Replacement for Moen 97556 Monticello Handle Adapter Kit for Mini Widespread and Roman Tub Faucets

Possible hint for Monticello 4550 repair
My clear plastic handle adaptor on the Moen 4550 (pre-2002 style) lavatory faucet cracked internally and I needed a replacement.I found a few sites that said this kit would work. I found some Moen help online too, but most notes indicated that the black adapter was correct for the hot water side. For me, the black was not keyed properly to work on my stem, but the white one worked fine. They seem to be the same material except for color, so I think the difference is keying, how it fits on properly. For my hot water side handle, it was the white, not the black. Glad I found this kit because I am redoing the upstairs bathroom and don't want to deal with the downstairs right now. Would have given it 5 stars if there were instructions.

Works on Moen 84000 too
My Moen sink had the original shatter. I bought this in hopes it would work as I couldn't find the parts for my specific sink. These worked. For those that don't already know, turn the water off first, then simply (not always that simple, might take a bit) - unscrew the piece the handle is attached to (or in my case supposed to be attached to), then pull out what parts you are replacing and put these in there. Screw it all back together and turn the water on. It is a little tight right now, but that will change over time with use, I'm sure.

This part saved me so much money!
When we moved into our new house all of our bathroom faucets were heavily corroded. I had a Moen Monticello bathtub fixture and the handle was completely broken off. We looked everywhere to find a new handle but it was discontinued and difficult to find. When I took the handle apart I found that there was a plastic piece on the inside that was broken. It was labeled part number 97353 which I couldnt find anywhere until I saw a review on this part. The piece ended up working in both my sink faucets and my bathtub faucet. (the silver handle and faucet aren't included in purchase, they are for information purposes only)

Aftermarket issues
I bought these because my faucet handles were a little loose. Like many aftermarket parts, they are close, but not exact. The spring steel wavy washer is too big in diameter and flops off the edges of the plastic cap. The plastic cap itself is off slightly in its alignment so when the faucet is in the off position it is turned about 5 degrees past the 90 degree stop angle. The plastic top washer is spot on and this is the part that wears and makes the handles loose. So my issue was fixed, but two of the three components are not up to spec.

Replacement faucet gears that work
Have used these 1/2 dozen times over the years to keep those Moen Monticello builder grade faucets operating vs. replacing. Always a little tricky to install as I never remember exactly the order of things. Would be nice if they included a quick install guide with step by step pictures. Really simple in the end but not if you don't do each piece in the right order LOL!

Did the job!
Nice solid parts and fix the expensive faucets easily at low cost without any issue. the hot water and cold water parts ( black and white) are not exchangeable, I got 4 broken handles, 3 hot water and 1 cold water, and have to buy 3 of them, not 2.

perfect replaement part
We did not want to have to replace the entire faucet system and this was a perfect solution replacing parts that were 20 years old well.

Fixed
My tub's faucet handles were separated from the faucet. These parts fixed all that.
