With a 5 year shelf life on food and water, when was this bag packed?

If you think and research about food life and water it between 15 to 20 years as long as there is no mold or rust. Just think if it was stale and it was all you had you would probably eat it. But having said that, common sense to check and upgrade your own back pack as time and technology is fast changing

Do you sell the version of this that comes with the water purification straw? i see it on the emergency zone website but not on the amazon store.

I don't sell them. But the one I bought not only has that , but also came with purification pills

Is the back pack waterproof?

The Urban Survival Bugout Bag 2 Person/Go Bag is not waterproof. However, the Gray Tactical backpack comes with a waterproof covering. So when that is used that backpack essentially is. The covering doesn’t make it so it can be dunked in water, since it is just a covering but it will keep the rain off and wont get damaged that way.
