KA-BAR TDI Law Enforcement Knife Fixed Blade, Steel: AUS 8A stainless steel

Got this from BladeShop. I really love kabar and they're great comfortable knives and are ascetically pleasing and have a nice useful design to them. I've been wearing it for a while now and it's really comfortable even in the sitting position when worn between 12 and 1 next to the belt buckle, unless you're carrying a firearm then you want it on your non-dominant side as a back up. This is my second TDI. The first one I bought came with a belt attachment that you had to slide your belt through. It was VERY annoying and uncomfortable and I hated it. The knife was great, but the sheath was not well design. They fixed the problem with this belt clip. I will try to comment and update later on its longevity, but it's very easy to attach to a belt and take off, but it will NEVER pull off when you pull the knife out. It's well designed and a far better design then they originally had about 10 years ago. On a side note, amazon recommended that I buy this along with a belt clip... being used to this model 10 years ago and only getting a sheath, I assumed the belt clip was sold separately, so I picked it up. Turns out the knife comes with the sheath and belt clip attached... oh well, I guess I have a back up one. I'm not sure what people are talking about though when they say no tools are provided because the extra belt clip I received came with tools, and the actual knife in the box came with the same tool... so I don't know where they got theirs from, but it's supposed to come with them.

Solid construction, very keen edge when sharpened properly, Sheath retains knife extremely well, and prevents accidental removal by carrier, as well as an unwelcome intruder! Belt clip is very secure and positions knife very well for person carrying knife to unsheath in multiple knife fighting grips - forward slash, backhand slash, and even frontal stab, with secure grips in all the aforementioned states. A welcome addition for protective carry, and very concealable, for when the need arises........! KA-BAR has been around a long time and has an outstanding reputation! I recommend this knife to all my associates.

The knife itself is flawless. Some people have reviews about knocks offs. That is no ones fault but their own for buying from private sellers. The sheath is okay too. However, the clip is a bit odd. Some may like it, some may not. I personally don't have a problem with it, other than it is not the most secure thing. I wear a reinforced gun belt made by Alien Gear, and it clips on just fine, but it is far from completely secure. It could be ripped off with the proper force, but honestly, you would just rip the knife out first anyways. I may invest in a custom kydex sheath, but for now, it works great. You can swap the metal clip from side to side if you need to. There is one review complaining about bending the metal. I tried with a gerber and it takes a ton of force to do so. If you bend this metal, it's your own fault. I highly recommend you get this product if you are so much as contemplating the idea of carrying a fixed knife for personal defense. Also, take some training. Please, take some training. At the very least, spend time unsheathing and re-sheathing it, as well as a practicing a proper grip. I honestly cannot think of anything negative to say here. I do not plan on cutting anything with this blade. That is why I carry a normal fold away blade for. Don't get carried away. Use this for what it is intended for instead of trying to cut down a tree. Ships nice and secure. Pictures for reference.

After weeks of searching for the best concealable defensive knife, I picked the Ka-Bar TDI because of its design, and the outstanding reviews. The TDI was specifically designed to be a compact, concealable defensive tool for law enforcement officers (and other similar users), and it absolutely meets the requirements. When worn on a sturdy belt, it tucks very close to the body and is completely hidden with even a thin t-shirt covering it. The handle doesn't print at all, as most other knives do. The sheath that came with the knife is of a high-quality hard plastic, and has very strong metal belt clip with a retention tab. It comes with an Alan wrench and spare screws, and the belt clip can be rotated to fit the users specific needs. Since I am using it as a defensive knife, I have not used the blade yet but I can tell you that it is extremely sharp. Used properly and with good training, it will absolutely be an outstanding tool. I highly recommend this knife to anyone looking for a high quality and concealable defensive knife.

I bought it to wear horizontally on my left side belt for a left hand draw. The knife is great, the sheath is great quality and fits the knife well, but the belt clip is designed for vertical carry only. I managed to reorient the belt clip using the included hardware to an angle more conducive to horizontal carry but the clip is long enough that I found it uncomfortable to wear in that configuration as the corners dig into my belly when seated. I purchased a third party sheath intended for horizontal carry that works better for that position. It doesn't have quite as good a knife fit upon insertion and the retention is not quite as positive, although it is adequate. If Ka-Bar would design their sheath and clip or an optional one for horizontal wear, sized so that it doesn't dig into anything above the belt when the wearer is seated, it would be perfect. I use it as a self defense tool when carrying my handgun concealed. It is most likely to be needed in a CQB circumstance when I'm trying to protect my weapon with my right hand and need to draw and deploy the knife with my left to create separation between me and my attacker. Pocket folders are generally useless in this situation as detailed by many police documented reports regardless of the training and familiarity with the knife by its user, hence the need for a fixed blade knife and one one that can be drawn quickly using gross motor skills under physical duress by ones off hand, not strong hand. That is why most who buy this length "cop knife" buy it and how they intend to use it, as a concealed stand off tool. Uniformed police actually buy and use its larger brother with a longer blade as they don't have to conceal it and vertical orientation on their duty belt or vest is the preferred carry method. Great knife, fair price, good quality sheath and clip, just not the positioning of the sheath for horizontal belt wear, at least for folks like me. Maybe if I was taller or thinner, it would be okay but I'm built about like the average American male these days and live in a south western climate where anything on my belt is going to be next to bare skin.

It is amazing how such a simple rugged design like the Ka-Bar TDI design does it better than all it's competitors. If you don't already know the TDI is designed to be a last ditch, get off me sort of weapon, especially if you are in a fight with someone trying to get a hold of your sidearm. The beauty of TDI is all the different ways you can carry it, whether it be inside the waistband,on your belt, positioned on your weak-side or strong-side, and you can position it so you will draw either in reverse grip or orthodox. The TDI was designed really for how the individual intends to use it, there is no one right way to carry or use this knife. While I am always in favor of training, especially when carrying a knife for self-defense, the way the blade and handle is designed makes this knife very simple to use regardless of how little training a person has. Once you draw the blade you basically have a hammer grip on the entire handle and now have a short wide blade sticking out your fist, so there is a very little chance the knife can be knocked out of your hand or, if you are against someone who actually knows what they are doing this makes it difficult for them to parry you. Overall I highly recommend this product, you definitely get what you paid for and more.

Thank you for the fast shipping it got here by Christmas so ty x3 ;).I wish it was made in USA but I have never had any bad knives from Taiwan. My rat 1 is from taiwan and it is the same kinda steel, "aus 8" and its one of my favorites.I believe this knife will last a good time the sheath seems nice but I'm a sucker for custom kydex so probably would switch out.This knife/karambit is comfortable you can really get a grip it would be hard for someone to disarm this.If you wear this inside the waistband appendix style you can sit and not feel the handle poking into your stomache, for me anyways. Thats my review I hope it helps someone who's on the fence about purchasing the Ka-Bar tdi LAW ENFORCEMENT ........

Good tool, nice concept design tho needs work, sheath can be little uncomfortable at times when wearing, handle needs a little more beef to it, have poked my stomach with it placing back in to sheath partly due to "user error" on my part tho handle needs some beef to it. All and all its not bad, cuts like a champ and a good utility tool to have at work and for the price can't really complain
