I loved more than ten things about Ten Things.... :)
Let me establish this from the outset: I have somewhat odd taste :) I tend to fall in love with the less popular works of popular authors. My very favorite Loretta Chase, for example, is one that most LC fans I know have never heard of or were resoundingly indifferent to: The Devil's Delilah. And...*deep breath*...I never fell quite as in love with Julia Quinn's Bridgerton series as I wanted or expected to. Most of the entries were enjoyable---some more so than others---but I just wasn't as head over heels, 'these are coming with me to my proverbial desert island' enamored with the Bridgertons as most of my fellow HR addicts. In fact, I've found myself developing a shameful preference for a few of JQ's non-Bridgerton novels, like Just Like Heaven, What Happens in London, and now, most notably, Ten Things I Love About You.This was not just my favorite JQ book; this was easily among my favorite of the many, many, MANY (no, I don't have a life!) HRs I've read over the past few years. You know how occasionally you come across a book that seems almost custom written for your particular quirks and preferences? This was it. As someone who's semi-insomniac and who's forever compelled to list and rank pretty much everything I come across, I related to these characters scarily well...these were my kind of people ;) It's funny, because while I almost never *dislike* Quinn's heroes or heroines---something of a feat for me---I don't often connect quite as strongly to them as I do with some other authors' H and hs. They're often blandly likable but easily forgettable for me. In this book, though, I found myself absolutely adoring Annabel, our relatably flawed but very endearing heroine. Sebastian, while my clumsy attempts to describe him will make him sound like 'just another charming, amusing and underlyingly kind recently reformed "rogue"' catapulted towards the very top of my surprisingly selective Favorite Heroes Ever list. Seriously, he is THAT awesome. And it's not just that I happened to love them---it's that I totally bought THEIR compatibility, chemistry and soulmate-y connection to each other. That's more of a rarity for me than you might expect: many HR couples strike me as far more in lust than in love, or as having a sort of fiery but superficial passion and chemistry that's likely to fizzle out all too quickly, leaving them as one of those perpetually bickering, sniping, woefully ill-suited couples you dread having to go out to dinner with ;) But I truly, deeply loved Sebastian and Annabel and bought their love for each other.Despite my fangirly adoration for this book, I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for those craving a lot of angst, a lot of sex scenes (there's only one main sex scene, which for me was a plus but for others will probably be a drawback!), a very brooding, dark and tortured hero and a lot of dark intensity in plot and tone. If, however, you want humor, charm, razor sharp dialogue, mood-lifting joy that doesn't descend into eye-rolling sappiness and one of the most awesomely lovable (though endearingly imperfect!) heroes ever, I truly cannot recommend this one highly enough!A/A- for objective quality; A+++++ for my subjective, off-the-charts enjoyment :)

Good
Annabel is the granddaughter of Lord Vickers. He has decided she would make his friend Lord Newbury a great wife . Even though he is twice her age he needs an her since his son died or his nephew Sebastian will inherit . While in London Annabel meets said nephew and kisses him. When they learn of each other identity a scandal happens but as so Sebastian always helps a damsel in distress tries to fix the situation but learns more about Miss Winslow . Witty and delicious. Great book

Engrossing but a tad disappointing
Anyone have a time machine I can borrow? I want to visit my 19th century book boyfriend, Sebastian Grey. His charm in "What Happens in London" left me smitten. In "Ten Things..." his vulnerability hidden right below the surface of his easy going manner, and his sense of fairness had me fall madly in love. If only Julia Quinn had written a story that focused more on him. That's not to say the heroine, Annabel, wasn't appealing. I was quaking over her plight. Just, Sebastian's issues like his PTSD took a back seat. Actually, they were locked in a trunk and never saw daylight. The main reason I'm docking a star was that the climax was a disappointment. Rather than feeling JQ was in control of the narrative from beginning to end, it felt like she tossed in several ideas to please a wide range of readers. It left me feeling blah.

So many things II love about this book!
This is really quite a beautiful story. The writing is exceptional for JQ. Sebastian is a poet, after all. The characters are wonderful. I defy anyone not to immediately fall in love with Sebastian Grey. Especially once his “secret” is revealed. Strong, beautiful, intelligent, poetic, ne’er do well suffering insomnia from PTSD, carrying burdens he can share with no one, not even Harry, who was in the war with him. Then there’s Annabel. Forced into a terrible marriage by people who are supposed to love and protect her. The two of them broke my heart. They also made me laugh out loud quite a few times. And they are very sexy together. There are a couple of scenes that are just so delicious I had to read them again. The scenes with Harry and a pregnant Olivia are hysterical. Honestly, this whole series is so good, I think it’s worth finding hard copies just to read them again and again. I think that’s what I will do

One of my favorite Julia Quinn books
I almost didn't buy this book. I didn't buy the first two in the Bevelstoke series because I have to mind my pennies, and the reviews for the other two books made me feel like I might regret the purchase. But I'm really glad I bought "Ten Things I Love About You." I enjoyed having the focus stay on the two main characters. I really like Anabelle--she is one of my favorite heroines Quinn has written (I've read 11 of her other books.) I like Sebastian better than most of Quinn's other "rakes, too." I love that he's a writer and a little less high-handed than many of the heroes. And most of all, I love the sense of humor in this book and the way it sends up the romance genre as a whole--if you can laugh at yourself for reading romance novels, you'll love this one!

The perfect book to end with the Bevelstokes
I really appreciate a lot Julia Quinn - I enjoy every single one of her books - but this is very, very good. It's funny; not too much focused on the main characters so there's space for other memorable people, such as grandmother Vickers and little tiny Louisa. Also society is better shaped than in other books. Sebastian and Annabel are simply perfect for each other, there's an amazing chemistry between them and it's impossible not to hope for their happy ending. Then, of course, Sebastian is irresistible, probably my favorite male character in Quinn's books. In my opinion, it's worth reading even just for Sebastian, although, of course, there are plenty of reasons for loving this book. I highly recommend it, it's a very funny and romantic story

The hero is a secret writer of gothic novels
Its an enjoyable read. Both the hero heroine are well crafted characters, and the circumstances are compelling... enjoyable at the cost of repetition .
