I ordered the small version and there is tape on the strings on the inside. Am I supposed to remove the tape?

“…tape is often used for tuning the snares. if they don’t like the sound or want it to buzz more, very carefully remove the tape and try it without. i use tape on mine.“

Yep, I’m more than that and it supports me no problem.

My nephew weighs 320. Can he use this?

No he is to big for this unit. I suggest the cajon master on YouTube for excellent advice. But this is a wonderful product
