Will not hold up to extreme cold temperatures
I love this thermometer- a lovely decoration in my kitchen window. However, we had a -18 degrees Farenheit snow here in the mountains and it broke the thermometer. I'd buy again and just bring it inside for this occasional extreme cold. If you don't live where it gets this cold, this a great decorative outdoor thermometer.

Dont bother
very cute but bought 2 and neither worked. First one mercury thermometer was crushed in middle. Didn't know until after i hung it up. Cant return it without packaging. Bought another. Not broken but temp was off by about 10 degrees. Not getting another.
User
Perfect!
I wanted a thermometer that I could put on the outside of the glass window on my door so I could see the temperature of my back porch while looking through my window. I turned the suction cups around and it works perfectly

Good performance for the price
Apparently I bought this November 2024, but yesterday the red liquid disappeared (now April 2026). I was disappointed until I saw that I can buy a replacement for only $5. For a $5 item, it had a good run. We stuck it to the outside of the window with provided suction cups, and it never came off even with all our windy days! It wasn't completely accurate in the early morning when the sun hit it, but most of the day the accuracy was fine. I've just ordered a replacement of the same model.

Just as advertised
I have only had it up for a week but so far no problems staying attached to the window. The display is easy to read and seems to be accurate. The cardinal red is fantastic- not "too red" and not washed out looking. For the price I highly recommend

Works for me
Wanted a regular old fashioned type thermometer that did not need batteries, would stick to the window, and was easy to read. This fit the bill so to speak, and the colorful cardinal added to the design.

"Mercury" (note quotes please) split into sections after very cold night
I wasn't going to write anything and just eat the cost of this but seeing as it's become useless... It had been fine up until a very cold night. A few degrees different than my outdoor digitals but that was ok. A couple of weeks back the temperature dropped to 20 below--I was up at 2 AM and checked. When I checked the temp in the morning on this thermometer, I saw that the "mercury" had split apart. It shows that it can got to -22 or less. That shouldn't have been a problem. Obviously it was. I brought it in and warmed it to room temperature. I've shaken it to try to get the fluid down. I've tried warming it to 110 degrees. Different things all to no avail. So now it's just an ornament. No idea whether it would have failed at "only" -10, 0, 10,... What about someone in Phoenix and 120 in the shade. Would it fail then?As for the suction cups, they are fine. Clean the surface well before attaching. It's winter and was cold when I attached it to the window. It didn't fall off at 20 below. After I tried to fix it, I simply reinstalled it. It's been as high as 58 degrees and as low as 10 since that. There have also been very high wind gusts as well as snow and freezing rain. The suctions cups have held. I just took it off to take the picture and write this.

No return available
Received wrong suction cups with product. The inserts for the cups are too large and do not fit so I drilled bigger holes in the product for them to fit. However, if you don't have a drill and plan to place the product on your window with the suction cups then buyer beware. One star taken away for wrong suction cups, and one taken away for no customer support and ineligible return (directs you to La Crosse). Cheap and accurate enough. Works well enough for the price if you're trying to avoid $50 units that last the same amount of time (around a year).
