I've seen some 1mg and some 4gm so is 12mg not too much? Will that much knocked you out fast or make you sleep too long?

12mg of Melatonin is much higher than the recommended dose. Start at 1mg and take it 30 minutes before when you plan on turning out the lights and see how you feel. It should be used sparingly. If it doesn't help, you can try 3mg, or bump up to 5mg. Rarely, do healthcare providers recommend going up to 10mg, which is the actual highest dose. Seeing a 12mg fast acting dose is concerning as it's not really a thing.
