Turbulence: An Introduction for Scientists and Engineers

I loved the way the author introduces the subject. He doesn't rely exclusively on mathematics, but uses words to put into context the physical meaning of equations. Very well written.

The book itself is really good and physical. Just got the second edition, haven't read it, I base my impressions on the first edition. However, I have to tell that the typesetting of the second edition (hardcover) is awful, moreover compared with the nice layout of the first edition (paperback). Just seems to be some crappy standard layout. Oxford university press did a very poor and cheap job, shame on them.

Very well written and illustrated. If I only had a few years to sit down and read it entirely!

Comprehensive approach to turbulence, complementary to Turbulence from Stephen Pope. Intends to be less mathematical and more physical.

great supplement to Hinze's 1975 "Turbulence".

This is "south asia edition" of the book. Pages are so thin you can see whats on the other side of the page. Keep this in mind while buying. Book itself doesn't need a comment, it is a standard, great book.

An excellent text on a hard subject. Full and comprehensive, well written too. The best book on turbulence I've seen, but then there aren't many other rivals.

I purchased this book just several days after it was available on Amazon. Seems this is the first review of this 2nd version. I have read several classic books about turbulence but prefer this one as it's more physical rather than boring mathematical formulations.

Great book it helps explain the stuff in my other turbulence text books.
