Q: Is this suitable as seat cushions for outdoor sofa? The current foam pad is 2” thick

This pad is not very thick so it’s fine on seats that do not need a lot of support. I am not convinced it will be comfortable enough for an outdoor sofa unless it is a topper .

Q: I need to make a mattress feel softer. Will this help or is it too hard? Many thanks!

The 50mm foam I bought is ideal for chair cushioning and has proved to be very resistant to deformation. I believe it would be softer than a firm mattress but you will not sink into it. Sorry to be indefinite but it is good foam.

Q: Could this be used as a replacement filling for back cushions on a sofa

I don't think it's thick enough. I used on the back of our conservatory chairs but used behind the original cushions andcit worked great
