Star Trek Classic Deluxe Dress

Hi, so I wanna start by saying I stupidly bought the medium thinking it would fit but boy was I wrong. I'm adding BOTH pictures (s & m) for reference. Anyways I'm 5 ft 4in. Somewhere around 140 pounds... 140-143 to be exact. I'm bigger chested and have somewhat wide hips. The medium was huge on me. I mean the sleeves came halfway down my hand, the dress down close to my knees, the neck was GIANT. I Returned it for the small. For me, and my body type the small fit great for the most part. It was stretchy enough to fit over my chest and was loose enough around my waist to not squeeze me to death. The sleeves are perfect length for me. The dress in the front looks good (its about mid thigh maybe a little higher), although the back is a little shorter than I would like. The size difference between the two was unbelievable though. I mean the medium fit like an XL or 2X. It was wild. Anyways, there's you an idea if you're trying to figure it out.

The fit was good - she is a size 2 and it looked really good - snug in all the right places. If you are a size 4, it would be tight. Although the tag said it fits up to a size 6, there is NO WAY a woman who is a size 6 would even be able to breathe if she put this thing on. Not even sure it would stretch enough for her to get into it. PROS The material was surprisingly comfy and the insignia was stitched as opposed to screened which was a quality touch! Length of the skirt was perfect - sexy but covered all necessary areas so as not to be vulgar. CONS The stitched gold stripes on the lower arm had scratchy, sharp stitching exposed on the underside that irritated the skin of the lower arm. The collar wasn't great. It was loose and wierd and didn't lay down properly no matter what we did.

Right off the back: This dress is short: I had to wear volleyball shorts underneath. This dress is not warm: you will want to dress accordingly. The collar is somewhat warped: no matter what I did I could not get the collar to unkink itself. With the image shown the model's hair is over the collar, but it is a weird asymmetrical cut/stitch work. The only other thing I would mention is that I have no idea where they came up with the stitchwork for the Star Trek emblem. Seriously. Where did it come from? Otherwise, this is a nice costume that I enjoyed wearing for Halloween.

At first glance - this costume gets the job done. It’s a cheap polyester fabric that doesn’t breathe. You’re sweating in ten minutes. Also, the fabric is scratchy because it’s to cheap. I could get past all of this, because it’s not an expensive costume, if I could find a size. I purchased the small and medium. I’m 5’3 / 140lbs. The small fits like a tight 6 and the medium fits like a 12. You gain 6 additional inches on the hem from the small to the medium and 4 inches in sleeve length. You also gain about 2-3 inches in sleeve diameter. The garment goes from being a stylish mini dress (small) to a hefty garbage bag (medium). The issue is, the sleeves in the small are so narrow they’re made for a 5th grader. The gold stripes have no stretch - so you cannot pull or move the sleeves for comfort. Be advised if you’re tall - the small will not work. It hits mid high thigh on my short leggos. But don’t buy the medium unless you’re at least 5’5 and are a size 10.

Reading the other reviews really helped me figure out my size. It does say medium is a size 11/12 on the packaging, so if your short, get a small! I am tall 5'8", and about 150 pounds, curvy build, and this dress in this size fits PERFECT. I am tall and have a booty, so I usually have a problem with skits being to short, but not in this dress! It is short without being revealing. It also fit me comfortably in the bust and butt, while going in at my waist and makes my body look gooood! I had no problem with the "big armpits" thing other people on here mention, but I am a DD so I need that extra fabric up top, lol. Basically If you have a similar body type to mine, the medium is made for you so buy and and rock it!!! On a side note everyone says the material is "thick" and "hot" so I was expecting maybe cotton or wool??? But it's just a slightly thicker version of the normal shiny costume material you might encounter in a Spirit Halloween. I was sort of sad about this, cuz I thought if it were made out of non-costume material, I could wear it around as a shirt/tunic/dress. But alas, it would be too costume-y, which was it's original purpose, so I'm not too bummed. Just thought it was worth mentioning. Also the badge is INDEED white, not yellow, but that doesn't really bother me. It was the fit I was most concerned about, since buying stuff online and getting a good fit can sometimes be a struggle. 5/5 would buy again, but for newbies here you should read the reviews to figure out your size rather than go off the size chart provided by amazon. (which is a good rule of thumb for every online shopping excursion, actually)

I had low expectations for this costume based on the reviews. But I thought for something easy and cheap, who cares? It was even worse than I expected. The collar was poorly attached, uneven, and sat up strangely. There was a section in the front where the black seaming went over into the red fabric. There was a black stain just under the collar in the center. The fabric is a spongy polyester that was uncomfortable after just a minute of trying it on. It was too short for me to wear -- which is my own fault, the picture shows a short garment. It was $20 wasted. I didn't wear it. Another reviewer had it right: it's just a polyester bag.

Based on the sizing chart, I bought size XS since I wear size 2 (sometimes 4) in dresses. This item's description, and even the package label, say the XS fits dress size 2-6. Not so!! The dress was so super tight, must be 2 sizes too small, I couldn't move in it :( It does not look relaxed fitting as in the photo! I was looking forward to wearing it for my office Halloween lunch tomorrow (I paid extra for early shipping too!) but now it looks like I have to wear my last year's costume. So disappointed.

This worked just fine though it was not perfect. It was great that this exists though. I kept bumping into that Uhura costume from the new movie which is not what I wanted at all. It fit well. I got a small. I am 5'6.75" and 125 lbs. It was not as short as the Uhura one but I was fine with this as I did not want people to see my underwear! :-P If you want to look just like Uhura here are the flaws: The red was a bit bright (looks just like the picture though so that was not a surprise). The collar was too symetrical The insignias was white and had the "command" insignia. I used a yellow highlighter to make the white and yellow/golden color which worked out great. It was not as short as hers (again I was actually happy with this though :-) ) Overall, I was very happy with this despite the flaws. I got some hoop earings, my sister gave me the perfict boots, a friend did my makeup and helped me find makeup that matched Uhura's, I borrowed a wig and all was great. It was for a costume party for Halloween and everyone loved it. :-)

Purchased for a 70's birthday party and the fit is great. Am only quite small in height but was a nice length though would recommend wearing tights
