I've been collecting gel pens for years and when I say I've never had pens like these, I mean it. They are bold lined and very pigmented. They can be used of a variety of surfaces like glass and plastic as well as paper. They have a glossy 3D appearance once dried. They're tons of fun to use. I use them for drawing, writing, coloring, and decorating random items(my phone case, my switch, etc) and I'll absolutely buy them again. They do have a bit of a long drying time but that's to be expected with a 3D effect. I will note that if you use too much in one spot when coloring, it can appear slightly cracked once it's dry. These are very much so worth the money and I highly reccomend anyone who loves a good juicy pen to try them!

The soufflé pens are very nice to write with and DO write on multiple surfaces. However, I would suggest having a piece of scrap paper with you if you intend to write on something smooth like glass or plastic. The ball can't really get traction on smooth surfaces, so you sometimes need to scribble a bit to get the ink flowing. The colors come out as roughly the same color as the cap but turn paler as they dry. The result is matte, milky, and opaque. Because of the way the colors turn out, I would recommend using these pens on black or dark colored paper, since they don't have nearly as much of a punch on paler colors. The results depends very heavily on the material you are using. The ink doesn't actually puff up--it just doesn't absorb into the paper as much as other thinks and dries like a glaze. Thus, you will see a more pronounced effect when writing on non-porous surfaces but these surfaces will also take longer to dry. When writing on paper, I find that it takes about 30 seconds for the ink to dry for standard notebook paper, and up to 3 minutes for dense, smoother papers. I have not yet tried it on photo paper, but I would imagine that the ink would take even longer to dry. It has a noticeably raised texture and tends to be rather durable for everyday use---if you actually let it dry, and if you clean the writing surface off of any oils or residues. The pens say that they have not been tested for writing on skin--and I wouldn't suggest using them for that purpose. Not only do they simply not WRITE, but the oils on your skin could very well ruin the pen. Furthermore, the ink seems like it would be rather difficult to wash off. You CAN layer this pen over itself, just be very careful. When the top layer is wet, rubbing it will take off the bottom layers as well. The higher you build it up, the easier it is to rub off, and the longer it takes to try. I would suggest giving any project a 2 hour "curing" time, just to be sure. While the doubt the ink dries any more than it does initially on thinner layers, on thicker layers, it really helps, since sometimes the surface dries faster than the rest of the ink. Overall, it does what it says. Whether you want to spend this amount on a decorational pen is up to you, but I'd imagine it would be more useful for the creatively-minded.

These are the funnest and most used materials in my art box. They are fairly fine tipped, opaque, and able to write on non-porous materials. I am currently using them in an art journal a lot, and I love that they give an interesting and thick stroke without bleeding through my paper as most of my other pens do. I also use them to write on various types of tape ranging from Duck tape to painter's tape to washi. They are also really good for adding outlines to writing done with other pens. Two things to keep in mind when you first start using them: 1. They dry much lighter than they go on. When wet, they look brighter, but when dry they take on a white, powdery aspect. 2. In some uses they appear to be transparent or even invisible as you put them on, but when they dry they become visible. If you aren't sure how it will go on or look after it dries, try doing a sample before you add it to the actual project. These pens look like a fun kids' toy, and they are certainly easy enough to use and affordable to use them that way; but Sakura makes good quality art materials, and these are no exception. Grownups should try them out, too.

My wife was so excited to receive these. And I later released I was only enabling her addiction to coloring as well as the coloring community. But like everything else, she has put them to good use. You wont find them anywhere else at this price. I had to buy her these. This is the best way to contribute to something she loves doing. The quality was pristine. They didnt dry too fast. The color was spot on. Very easy to use. Versatile.

These are fun, but work on limited surfaces. You have to write very slowly to make the ink flow thickly so it will plump up. You have to write in a shiny surface,but it doesn't work on EVERY surface. For example, it looks like a regular thick gel pen on regular paper/ cardstock. It looks glazed on glossy paper, and some shiny surfaces, like some plastics/metals/glass. However, I was very disappointed to see it bead-up and not work on a plain white plastic board that I had planned on making into a small sign.

12 years later these pens are still my favorite. These never seem to dry out. I get new sets from time to time, but I have a few colors left from 2012-2014 and they still work. Keep them in a closed pencil box, in a cool, dry area. Smooth writing with a little bit of dimension. Writes on black paper. Quality ink and barrel. Excellent colors

Adore these!! But you have to know they're called "soufflé" for a reason!! When you write, the ink is pretty much invisible on black paper. The color then "rises" very slowly, like a soufflé puffing up, and within a minute (maybe a little longer....) it is fully visible! The colors are very pastel, even paler than the colors of the pen caps in this picture of the product, and oh so sweet and delicate. I wouldn't imagine using these on anything other than colored paper because I can't imagine they'll show up on white paper. I write in my black paper journal a lot, so I haven't wanted waste ink on an experiment I am pretty darn positive will fail. I hope any bad review is mitigated by this review since you need to know what you're getting into before you purchase these! The description provided by Sakura really fails on this product, unfortunately. The only down side I would note is that there's a flip side to the "cuteness" of the soufflé-like ink drying: when I write in my journal, when I reach the bottom of the page, I blow in the ink to encourage it to dry quicker. It's a little annoying to sit there and hold my thoughts, BUT, it also gives me a chance to really select the right words. So it's kind of a benefit and a detriment.... But I love love love these overall!! It looks really terrific on black paper, and I can also imagine them on colors like amethyst, fuchsia, ocean blue..... Any bold, jewel tone, or dark paper I assume it will look terrific on. They're supposed to be FUN!! Remember that and channel your inner tween ;)

I love these soufflé gel pens! The colors are vibrant on black paper as the Gelly Roll Moonlight gel pens, which is exactly what I was looking for. I found I had to do three so I could get soufflé look. One, was to float the pen on the surface instead of applying pressure like you do when writing with a regular pen. The more you can float the pen more ink will come out. Second, Was to go slowly.Third,allow it time to dry. I’ve attached a video which I hope helps. Also, try not to drop a gel pen, it.can make a bubble form which will then prevent the gel from coming out. Shipping was fact as well. I would highly recommend these gel pens - they are fun, and provide your art work a different texture which is really cool! I hope this review helps!

Súper contenta con esta gama, solo la he utilizado en hojas negras ya que para eso la compré y es simplemente increíble como se desliza en el papel y el color que queda con dimensión. Una vez seco no despinta ni pierde dimensión, la uso hojas de 90 gr y no traspasa. El punto es grueso, tomarlo en cuenta si lo que buscan es trazos finos. Sin duda la volvería a comprar.
