Real Page Turner
This book is about twins who spent entirely too much time being abused in prison, finally get out and go on a killing spree to repay those who "done them wrong"....or not.Special agent Phoenix Perry is on the job once again. She and her sexy partner, Kelly McPherson, think they have solved the gruesome killings only to find other victims with nothing apparently connecting the victims to each other.Sugar and Spice is a great story, filled with intrigue, twists and turns with every page. I found it impossible to put down. Just like Special Agent Perry, every time I thought I had it all figured out, I discovered I was very wrong. There are new surprises with every page. This is a great read. I predict Mr Johnson will soon become one of the top mystery writers.

The most poorly written book I have ever seen
Let me preface this by saying I am no snob. I like Robert B Parker. I like Dan Brown and Robert Jordan. I like Janet Evanovich. I am generally never one to critique a book simply on bad writing. In this book, however, the writing was so poor it jumped right off the page and made it impossible to continue reading. It was writing of such an astonishingly poor quality as I would never expect to find in a published novel. As an example, this author seems entirely unfamiliar with the concept of pronouns. Again and again and again his female character refers to "my husband", even after he has been named."What do you think," I asked my husband. "I turned to my husband and said..." I prodded my swarthy husband." "My husband came into the room." "What do you want to do, asked my husband."This is hard to describe without sounding nitpicky, but weirdly distracting and something I've never seen before. I mean, all of that within a very, very few pages. Does the author have a problem with words like "He"? Is there something wrong with using the character's name? He does the same with the character's child who is referred to as "my daughter". I would also like to add that writing first person female characters is sometimes difficult for male authors, and this male author does a very poor job of it.The dialogue between characters is sometimes shockingly silly, and the descriptions of characters and scenes horribly inept - or entirely absent. Eight characters are introduced in the first twenty pages with no descriptions of any of them to speak of, not even ages, hair or skin colours. And I was shaking my head at how laughably bad the first murder scenes were described. A junior high creative writing story would have done it better. As for the sex scenes - it makes those in romance novels seem erotic. The author actually uses terms like "my love canal" and "his throbbing loins". Yeesh.BTW, this author subscribes to the Robert B Parker school of wasting paper, only moreso - which caused me to stop buying Robert B Parker books in hardcover. The average chapter length is about 2 pages, which means you're buying a lot of white space and chapter headings. It is listed at 256 pages (including exterp from next book), but I'd suggest a third of that is wasted space. Now lest you think, in the face of all these 5 star reviews, that I just had a weird reaction, I asked two other people, seperately, to look at this book. They not only disliked the book, they were both as astonished as I am that it ever got published. One mentioned that her boyfriend grew irritated at her for being unable to stop talking about how horribly bad the book was. In the face of this, I am going to suggest that people whose interest lies more with the author and publisher than you as a reader, have been responsible for most of these reviews. You can read my reviews, and you'll see that I have never really commented on the author's quality of writing before. But this book was just - amazingly bad. I am indignant that it was ever published, let alone that I wasted my money buying it.

AWESOME
ALL Keith's reads are absolutely AWESOME. He is the first author that has written his books backwards that I've read and it doesn't really matter which way you read them. I love his writing and have been reading his books since they've hit the market. Please read ALL of them including the Little Black Girl Lost series and don't forget "The Honeymoon Is Over"Sugar and Spice is so thrilling you will be out of breath with the characters of the book. Pretenses is right there behind it with so much action I thought I was a martial artist myself.Keep up the GREAT writing Keith. I love your gift and am your #1 FAN!!!!!!

This book was really good and it had a lot of twists to it. Just when I thought who the killers were I was absoultely wrong. But I enjoyed this book. The author really out did himself with this book, This book is defintely worth more than 5 stars. I am awaiting his next novel out in June 2004.

Good Read
This book was disgusting but so DAMN interesting I couldn't stop turning the pages. There is a lot of violence so if you have a weak stomach you may want to think twice before reading it. I LOVED the twist!!!!

A Pager Turner But...
Interesting but a few too many characters to keep track of. No real reason for the killing... done really for no reason. .. maybe I missed something. But definitely a page turner.
