My dog was digging at the dishwasher, so I checked and found droppings. I have never dealt with this before, so needless to say, I was nervous about the whole ordeal. I ordered these traps expecting to catch mice and be done with it. Unfortunately for the rodents and my mental health, I can say these things WORK. I had it set with peanut butter and within an hour, there was a GIANT rat caught. Now, I know “giant” sounds hyperbolic, but this thing was MASSIVE - definitely too big for the traps - but still managed to be restrained. While I was shocked, disgusted, and trying to determine how to handle this, it was discovered the rat was not dead. I screamed, the dog barked, the rat squealed - it was traumatizing to all of us to say the least. My dog had been pawing around the traps because he is peanut butter’s #1 fan, but after witnessing the execution firsthand, he has avoided the area like the plague. Anyway, the rat was subsequently disposed, the traps reset easily, and we went to bed. I walked into the kitchen this morning to find yet ANOTHER rat in the traps. Not as big as the first, but still a rat. I think it’s dead - but I also thought the first one was dead until it rose again. However, I am unsure, as I am currently writing this review from the safety of the back bedroom. I am now concerned I have most of the cast of Ratatouille behind my dishwasher, so it’s good that the traps are hardy and durable. In conclusion, I am horrified, disgusted, and traumatized, so I wholeheartedly recommend this product to even the most inexperienced of rat trappers.

After risking broken fingers setting Victor® wood-base traps, for the last three years I've used the easy-set Tomcat® Rat Snap & Victor® Power-Kill™ traps. In that time, I've had 12 kills and 13 misses, mostly from the Tomcat®. So, an average of 4 kills per year I've only used the Kat Sense "tunnel" for a week … and already have 3 kills and no misses. Here's why I believe it's more effective: (1) the tunnel directs the rodent's attention directly to the trip plate (2) the trip plate is much more sensitive. In my test, pressing down on it slowly with a stick, the Kat Sense trap snaps instantly; the Tomcat® Rat Snap & Victor® Power-Kill™ trip-plates can be pressed down visibly (~2mm) without triggering. That's a big design flaw in my opinion … (3) the increased weight (being attached to the tunnel) reduces "jumping" Unless attached to a board, Tomcat® Rat Snap & Victor® Power-Kill™ traps jump up in the air when snapping, dissipating some of the spring force away from the kill. The Kat Sense is heavier and stays put. To prevent it from moving at all, I lean a concrete paver on top of it. In the last week, two mice were killed instantly but the larger rat was still alive. If you've read the reviews, none of these finger-safe, easy-set "jaws" style traps have enough power to always kill rats. One humane way to quickly finish the job (upsetting to many people) is to drop the rodent on the ground and strike a powerful blow with a shovel. Another option is to drop it into an energized electronic trap. This is the one I recommend: Rat Zapper RZC001-4 Classic https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002665ZTC -- turn on the electronic trap and hold it with the opening pointed up. -- hold the Kat Sense trap over the opening and release the rodent into the electronic trap. It will get an 8000-volt shock for 2 minutes There's always room for improvement and for Kat Sense, it's their website which doesn't show their two tunnel traps, have owner manuals or explain the differences between them. The seller descriptions on Amazon are nearly identical - but in my research, there are big differences and important reasons to only get the one I'm reviewing. Wow! I am impressed. The first night the two traps were set with peanut butter, we didn't catch any mice. Then, the next night BAM!! We caught a mouse in each trap. My husband was dreading emptying traps & I dreaded cleaning traps, as we both thought there would probably be blood & gore. However, there was none of that, and my husband just pushed down side clamp and emptied each dead mouse into a garage bag outside. Then, using household rubber gloves, I cleaned each trap with Clorox Bathroom Cleaner With Bleach & very hot water. Easy Peasy!

Warning graphic pictures and video! This product is worth more than 5 stars! I 100% highly recommend this brand and product Kat Sense covered rat trap does exactly as it’s described to work! Very easy to bait, set it and place without the fear of regular mouse/rat traps triggering and snapping our fingers. These are mess free and easy release to dispose of the critter. We have had many chipmunks digging up the lawn, plants, getting into the bird feeder and using our deck as their playground and trying to rip the screen on the sliding door. These chipmunks are smart and had been eating the bait from regular traps and not triggering them. I was looking into other types of traps when this product showed up on my Amazon search and can’t stress how this product was worth the $22.00 and I will definitely buy this brand again (should I need them) in the future. I’ve told several friends about them and once they saw the video and pictures of how it works they instantly ordered these Kat Sense covered rat traps. Since placing them upon delivery on 6/22/2026 - 7/01/2016 we have trapped 7 chipmunks. These traps are safe to use just put your bait in the holder replace the holder in its designated spot, push down on the lever until you hear a click, place the trap wherever you want and let the critters do the rest! The chipmunks die instantly so, there’s no worry of them dragging the traps around the house or yard. We’ve had 2 curious raccoons who put their paws inside and found out that wasn’t a smart idea! If you have critter issues, I highly recommend Kat Sense brand just make sure you get the appropriate size for what you are looking to trap as these are for rats/chipmunk size for reference. I was “trapped” into buying this product…lol

A Safe, Effective Solution for Our Rat Problem With all the new construction and deforestation happening near our neighborhood, we started noticing a lot more rats around, and some of our neighbors turned to poison to deal with it. We didn't love that idea, especially with a dog running around the yard, so we went looking for something safer. This trap has honestly been great. We don't have to think twice about our dog getting into it, and we're not putting other animals or wildlife at risk either. So far it's effectively killed six (6!!) rats, and all we do is check it each morning, open the clip, and dump the rat into a bucket. The rest of the time, we just bait it, leave it out and don't worry about it. If you're dealing with a rat problem and want something safe and low maintenance, this one gets our full recommendation.

Well, this is very good at trapping rats but we’ve had at least 3 juvenile rats now only partially caught and so when we find them, they’ve been suffering. This is not the best for consistent complete swift humane kills. Most of the time it’s complete, but the 3 incomplete are enough to have me questioning if we’ll continue using them.

I bought this about three months ago. At first the traps worked amazingly. I trapped/killed 4 mice in one week. Then on the 5th trap the mouse suffered. It didn’t die right away and I felt so bad I had to wait for it to die before I could dispose of it. Then nothing for a at least a month. The mice figured out how to grab the peanut butter without setting off the trap. Then this morning it was only the mouses tail in the trap and it was eating away at the plastic to the point where it destroyed the trap. The traps don’t have a fast enough velocity to trap and kill the smart ones. I bought this so I could humanely kill them, but it would be better if they used copper or some type of metal for the traps so the mice couldn’t eat through them and it would have a higher instant death rate.

Bought 4 traps. Very easy to use, took only a few minutes to bait (with peanut butter) and set. Within 1 hour of putting out traps we'd caught a chipmunk. Within 24 hours we'd caught 2 chipmunks and 2 mice (plus another mouse the following day). Haven't seen either species outside the house or in the garage since. We'd been inundated with chipmunks and paid $325 for a six-week service, which killed a dozen or so, but when that service ended, we were still seeing a couple of chipmunks around. They had previously dug through our gardens, under the front porch and even under our driveway, plus in and out of the garage when it was open, so we were desperate not to find ourselves with a new batch of rodents reproducing and replacing the ones we'd paid so much to get rid of. Yes, they're cute and fun to watch ... but so destructive and ubiquitous! Now I'm wishing we'd bought these traps before spending so much on the service. ALSO: The one thing I was squeamish about was having to empty the traps after catching something, but it's so simple to release the carcass into a bag or box and then drop it out back in the woods, or you could just carry the trap to wherever you want to dispose of the deceased. So simple also to reset the trap, using the same bait as drew the former victim. I'm not against live traps but we were fed up and went this route and were very satisfied. Also appreciated that the traps aren't expensive.

Definitivamente las volvería a comprar son efectivas y funcionales, evitan que mascotas metan la pata y el roedor no sufre ya que el golpe es demasiado rápido y fuerte. Para liberar la trampa no hay que tener contacto directo solo levantar el seguro y tirar directo a una bolsa o la basura. Seguro y práctico.

Trabajan de maravilla, las deja bien muertas y no hacen desorden, llevo dos días con ellas ya hemos atrapado 4 ratas. 100% recomendables!

Funcionó muy bien. La rata se resistió varios días a comer el cebo que cambie varios durante varios días. Lo dejo como oportunidad de mejora el poder tapar una salida puesto que el roedor ve un túnel y no ingresa a comer con confianza. Además que cuando lo puse en la ruta la rata lo esquivaba.
