No, it’s just the books alone. I use a metal dish to burn them

Will it set off the smoke detectors?

I've never had any issues with this setting off smoke detectors and i have been using these for years. Just use one section of the sheet at a time (not the whole sheet) and only light the corner of the paper (blow out any flame once lit) and you should be fine.
