It may do what you require, as the angle the phone is held at is adjustable, however I feel that the phone would really require a stand that grips it top and bottom for stability if recording a video.

Isn’t it a nuisance having to feed the cable through the hole at the back before you connect, then having to disconnect before lifting up iPhone?

Nah, you dont need to thread the cable anywhere. its not a requirement that you use that hole. Just plug it in the same way as you do now.

Will this hold and iPhone 7 or 11 or 10’please?

I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max and it works well. I would suggest it works with all iPhones due to its design
