It's medium hold, not hard. depending upon your hairstyle, it might. and it's gel, not wax, but I'd prefer to have my hair for years, against better styling them for a couple of years and go bald :D I experienced hair thinning with other branded hair gels, and not I use this and I do see an improvement. I also reduced the usage frequency to twice in a week from daily.
