I just needed a crimping tool for a small home project, so I didn't want to spend lots of money. A cheap tool for a little job was all I needed. I was surprised at the quality of this item. It's very sturdy and has the solid weight and feel of professional devices that I used in the past. Plus, it includes RJ45 connectors and a basic tester so you'll have confidence that your cable is wired correctly. In addition, a color manual with T568B diagram is included. This is a great item at a low price!

bought this RJ45 crimping tool kit and it has been excellent for making and repairing network cables. Fantastic. I dont know what name brand crimpers go for but I have to think this is a good price for this quality of product. I’ve only had these one day however they feel extremely solid. My apartment had three unterminated cat6 in the network box that I needed to connect a desktop in a bedroom. I do work in IT and have had a very small amount of experience doing this. The directions are helpful. Suggestions would be to be liberal with how far back you trim the cable. A full inch or inch and half is fine. Be gentle when using the yellow cutter. If you press too hard to cut through the plastic it’ll cut the wires underneath and you’ll have a short. Only press hard enough to make small cuts or damage and twist the rest off. Also, cut out any center fill product, there are typically pieces of plastic or fibers separating or surrounding the wires, you can remove those. Feel free to completely straighten the twisted pairs as much as you feel necessary. After straightening and lining up the wires, push them through and double check they stayed in the same order on the other end. Once confirmed push the plastic connector down over all the exposed wires until the plastic is nestled inside. Then slide through the crimping tool. Press hard on the crimping tool, it presses a plastic divot into the plastic cable which secures it and keeps the connector from sliding back off. Double check the wires to make sure clear and clean wire cuts. When testing make sure all 8 lights illuminate in order. It’s not uncommon for one or two wires to get damaged or miscrimped and if they don’t test right, it won’t work right. If they are not all illuminating you’ll likely need to cut the new connector off and start over. And that’s okay, that happens. Out of the three ends that I did, I had that happen once and the second time was the charm.

Got this to be able to do some quick fix jobs on the network cables, as teenagers like to roll over cables so have had to cut some and reinstall jacks on them. That aside, the only gripe I have is the little clip that holds it together for storage broke off on my 1st or 2nd use. My workaround was to wrap a velcro wrap around the handles and that keeps it closed for now, but I guess you get what you pay for in a cheap sub-$30 toolset. Also the rubber pieces that slide around the jack either don't fit well or are a REALLY tight fit, but that is no big deal, I can probably buy a better separate package of those somewhere else. Decent for a first time purchase of this specific tool, but definitely pay more for a better one your 2nd time around.

Good instructions and good tool

I've never been more enthusiastic about leaving a review, but I'm so thankful for this product. I needed every one of these items (minus the yellow wire stripper) just for a small camera installation and didn't want to spend a lot of money. After researching everything needed I was putting each of the items in my shopping cart only to find this package that had everything in one. If I were doing this professionally I could see the value in buying a really nice crimping tool, but this was perfect for someone who will use it once or twice. Tip for those that are new to this tool: You probably don't need the yellow stripper. I started with it and every time it cut the wires inside. Then saw on the crimper diagram that there is a wire stripper hole in the middle, and it stripped the cat5e cable seemlessly. The only issue I had was during the crimping- it needed a few good squeezes before it was all cut and ready to release. Thank you to the maker/seller for making this affordable!
