Neo LapSaver Laptop Cooling Pad for Macbook 16" - Blueberry (LN16C)

I got this for a new largish tablet we recently got that gets super hot super fast. It then cycles the brightness down "due to a thermal event". Well this mat works perfectly for it as it stops this problem. The material inside changes from hard to soft and back based on temperature. It's very neat.It's used on the laptop and under the old tablet too. It works for all of them. It makes it possible to have the laptop on your lap without your legs heating up. I'm using this for my MacBook which doesn't have any fan, so the casing can get quite hot with long heavy use such as video editing. The Neo pad does a great job of absorbing the extra heat from my MacBook, which makes it much more comfortable, and also makes it run faster for long jobs (the MacBook will slow down if things get too hot).However, the pad contains crystals that liquify under heat, and these recrystallize quite hard in dark patches when they cool down again. That looks ugly and leave the pad uneven, making my MacBook wobble. It also leaves air pockets where the MacBook was the hottest, preventing it from cooling it again at the spots where it needs it the most. I found I could soften and redistribute the crystals again just by putting the pad in tap hot water for about 5 minutes and then cool it back down under cold water while massaging it a bit. It works well, the pad's crystals get redistributed and stay softer, but but it's a pain.I found a much better way that make the pad work wonderfully though, but be warned, it's hacky. Using a syringe and very small needle, I replaced all the air with water and then sealed the pin hole with solid tape (I used clear hockey tape). My pad now stays soft and cushy all the time, hard crystal and air pockets never form, even after heavy use, and it cools my MacBook even better! This transformed my pad from a poor product I would have returned to a fantastic cooling pad. I'm not sure why the manufacturer never did that to start with; if they would have, they'd be getting five stars.

keeps your lap cool and keeps your laptop slightly cooler. Doesn't seem to melt as much as the other name brand out there. Perfect for 13" laptop. It's under your laptop, so color probably won't be seen by others. Weighs around the same as a fan based laptop cooler, so I guess it's personal preference. I wish it was stiff on one side, to allow it sit flatter on my two legs, so for that, and the fact that it doesn't cool as well as my fan one, took off two stars. I purchased it very cheap, around 1/5th of the cost [or more] that I would of spent on a fan cooler, so added a star and got to 4/5 stars.

July 14, 2016It worked for me one time perfectly. Then became liquid and now is always that way. So ok it helps, but can't be compare to other products like a fan for example.I think the main problem is I spend a lot of gaming time, so my laptop gets REALLY hot. So If you want the pad and you only spend a few hours a week on your computer, then I think this will work for you. Another thing you have to consider, is the temperature of your environment. Mine is always hot (tropical country) so it doesn't help much the pad to do his job.**Update** Sep 30, 2016I found that the pad became liquid an spilled a lot. I did not take pictures of my computer because I ran and cleaned as soon as I saw it, but I took photos of the pad. Now I can say the pad last only 2-3 months. Don't waste your time.

My Laptop was running hot and thought I could use a cooling pad to help keep cool it down while using my MacBook Pro. The first time I use the cooling pad it seemed to keep the base of my computer cool. The second time I used the cooling pad, my laptop shut itself down and wouldn't boot up until it completely cool down. I realized it was the Cooling pad it was helping with some of the cooling process but it didn't allow the base (bottom) of my computer to breath. So basically my laptop over heated and shut down as a precautionary.

I would rate with 4 stars due to this product packaging and unknown material of the crystal (I mean I'm not sure if they safe to use at all). But anyway this Pad really works great for my Macbook 13'', it doesn't weights too much and it prevents dust to be absorbed into your cooling system when you use your laptop in your bed. Of course, you should look for some active cooling pads if your laptop is mostly used for gaming and produces a lot of heat during the lasting time.

I've had this for a few years now and it worked great at the beginning! It would turn liquid under the area of most heat. I would just turn it around and warm a different part, no problems.It crystallizes when cool and melts when warm. As a science teacher it is the coolest idea! Sadly though it hasn't melted recently. Instead when it is warm it just stays a solid. My laptop get SO hot and it doesn't do its job anymore :(

I purchased this pad to keep my laptop from sizzling my lap during the long, hot summer, and the LapSaver Laptop cooling Pd worked pretty well for that. I wasn't expecting it to be so lumpy -- the phase change gel to crystal formulation is uneven across the pad, so there are some parts that get pretty squishy, and others that are hard lumps, but it does not affect usage at all. It did cause me to call the manufacturer to ask if that was supposed to happen. MIght have been helpful if they had some explanation of that in the package.It was a very hot summer, and I use my laptop for seven or eight hours a day. This laptop saver was a big help.
