You can use it by turning the portafilter upside down hitting it against the bar to pop out the puck of coffee. Or I like to remove the basket from the portafilter and tap it on the bar and it comes right out. When the box if full I dump it into the garden.

What material is the container?

i’m not sure exactly, but it is reasonably heavy, and very durable hard plastic. almost like a textured pvc. we are very happy with ours.

I don’t know but I don’t think so it is hard plastic
