First thing to know: my example is extremely accurate. I don’t know if this is true for all examples, but after a week of wear, mine has no perceptible sub-second drift versus my NTP synced reference clock, which is astonishing even for a quartz watch, especially one this inexpensive. However, there’s a lot more positive attributes beyond functional accuracy: it looks good and wears well. Its proportions and dial aesthetics are extremely pleasing, especially in the grey bezel, faux-metal case combined with the rolled steel band. And the metal band is surprisingly good for the price point: I was able to easily remove links and adjust the band for an excellent fit, and it doesn’t pinch or pull at all (I have massively more expensive watches with bands that don’t wear this well). Last, but not least, the functionality of the watch is genuinely useful and well implemented. The two sets of time zone functions are very useful (especially if you coordinate between people across the globe). The stop watch, timer and alarm functionality is old-school Casio, which mean’s simple to use. Best of all, no charging, no winding, no software updates, no mechanical servicing and adjustments, it just works. Barring the apocalypse (where these would likely become worth a lot of guzzoline), these won’t ever be collectable, or a great piece of mechanical engineering, or seen as more than a basic watch. But that takes nothing away from the fact that Casio has made a fantastic watch. As a hobbiest watchmaker who restores antique and vintage mechanical watches (I’m talking restaffing balance wheels, positional adjustments, etc.) I feel like Casio deserves more recognition for making something this functionally excellent at such a remarkable price-point. Update: Yep, this watch (my example at least) is absurdly accurate, averaging just 1.9 seconds of drift per month. After 7 months, it’s running just under 14 seconds fast (versus NTP synced to USNO tick & tock). That’s 23 seconds per year, or under 4 minutes per decade!

Come on, it's Casio. Fun. Nostalgic. Well made. All the things they've always been. You DO know this is called the Casio Royale in... Casio/Watch collector circles, right? If you don't, look it up. This is one of their best sellers of all time. Some consider it the greatest watch Casio has made. I wouldn't go that far, but it's pretty cool, all the same. People turn these things into $150+ modified watches. There's a whole niche industry around them. Look that up, too. If you don't modify them, they still are excellent watches. Very cool and 'hi-tech' looking. Not to mention, they have great functionality. You can read all about that in the description. Yes, the body is plastic/resin (you choose), but it's light and strong and looks good. This one has a fairly thin strap with a sliding buckle type clasp, though. Probably it's weak point. Not a fan of sliding buckle clasps. It's hard to get the exact location on the strap that you can push the clamp down on. Popular with Milanese straps. But they make replacements for that, too. All in all, it's a cool Casio watch. I own three of these. Different colors, of course.

Love this watch, Casio is an amazing brand and this one is durable for everyday wear, stylish and the features it has is remarkable for something comperable. Had this since March, light scratches on the screen and clasp, but that's not an issue for me. Clasp is really satisfying but is harder to close after a while. Backlight viewing angles aren't the best, but the brightness is decent. Fits good on the wrist, and the size can be changed. Button beeps are a little loud but that can be muted.

A classic watch, delivered as expected. This arrived fully factory packaged and clear that I was the first person to open it - that matters with watches! If you are buying new, always verify the packaging is clearly factory shipped. Sizing the bracelet was surprising simple and well done - for me, a stainless steel cocktail pick did an easy push for the bracelet and pulling links out to get the size right was super simple. The clasp on the bracelet is really nice, and the overall bracelet feel is perfect. It's Casio, so it's built tough, durable, and quartz accuracy, and ability to easily click through time zones is a great plus for work. This is one of those great watch designs and fun to wear, looks great, and a solid recommendation.

This watch might just be the greatest digital watch in its price range. I got it for its travel utilities but it has quickly become a watch that I wear the most frequently. Pros: very easy to track multiple time zones and switch time zones. The alarm, timer, and stop watch functions are great and easy to use. The watch is also durable, and it comes with 200m of water resistance which is really rare for this price range. I have played sports, snowboarded, and showered with this thing and it doesn’t show any signs of wear. The 10 year battery life is also a great advantage over other digital watches. I personally love the design of the watch and thinks it looks cool even though the layout may not be the most functional. I also appreciate how you can mod the watch to upgrade the case and glass or add some customizations to the colors, dials, etc.. the watch also wears pretty comfortably on my wrist and the links are fairly adjustable. There aren’t many major cons, but here are some minor complaints: the bracelet is a cheap folded link design with stamped clasp. The folded link feels cheap and can squeak and rattle. They may also tug on arm hairs if you have a lot. When trying to take the links out sometimes the connecting piece can be stubborn and you really gotta force it out causing marring in the process. But the bracelet does wear comfortably enough and seem durable. For the price you really can’t expect more. The bracelet would be less of a big deal if the transition from the case to the strap width isn’t so large. You almost need to buy an adapter or tailored straps otherwise the sharp transition from the square body to the skinny strap looks awful. Another con is the backlight. The backlight isn’t the best, but it does the job. I wish they would have given us more adjustability on backlight duration though. Your only options are 1 second or 3 seconds which isn’t nearly long enough imo. You also can’t hold down the light button to extend the light time. The light button is also used in setting time so you can’t really set your watch in the dark either. Lastly, the case material is cheap plastic and the glass is acrylic, but again there are mod kits that you can buy to swap to stainless steel and sapphire. Overall, despite some of the small annoyances, this watch is probably the greatest value digital watch in existence. This would be my first recommendation for anyone looking for a functional time piece.

Not likely anyone needs a rundown of the functions & qualities of this watch; it is the Casio Royale after all and has been reviewed positively on several YouTube watch-enthusiast channels. But there are several versions of it and I’ll just explain why I chose the most expensive of those versions and what I’m doing to it. I’m familiar with Casio’s metal bracelets and they’re not at all why I ordered this version. Matter of fact, before I ordered the watch I looked around Amazon.com until I found a rubber replacement strap made to fit the 18mm lug width of the watch and ordered the watch & strap together. Here’s the Amazon link to that strap: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YNFS345?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details They come with a black buckle only but I don’t mind because there’s a little black on the screen of the watch, but if I get tired of it I can always source a buckle from Amazon - in satin steel to match the finish of the case - and it’s helpful that the buckle has drilled holes to make it easier to push out the spring pins if I ever get around to making the change. Swapping the supplied bracelet for the strap was another story, not easy at all, but by a miracle in two steps I managed to wrestle the bracelet’s pins out of the lug holes and then used them with the strap to likewise wrestle the strap on. A lot of patience and a bit of viciousness got it done. What sold me on this version of the Royale is the gray frame (bezel if you prefer) around the crystal and the gray sub-frame that sits between the crystal and the screen. That sub-frame was especially welcome in gray because it reduces the prominence of the white lettering for the function cues & specs surrounding the LCD screen, and though it's a lighter shade of gray than the frame it co-ordinates well. My choice of strap was the olive green because it’s about the same tonal depth as the frame on the watch and looks totally made for this more subtle version of the Royale, and by a happy coincidence both the frame and the strap turned out to be equally darker in real life than they appear in the listing photos, and in some light conditions they even look like the same colour. YouTube to the rescue! Some people use acetone, which made me think of trying turpentine, but one guy just uses a white eraser, keeping the resin case unaffected by any chemical contact. His video shows him energetically rubbing the lettering off while keeping the case dry. Banzai! I bought a fresh eraser to do that and the letters came off without leaving any traces on the silvery case. Other people are doing more extensive mods, like disassembling the watch and gluing coloured filters to the underside of the sub-frame, removing the lettering on the upper side of it and even the Casio name itself to make the watch completely anonymous. No thanks. I think mine looks amazing the way it is.
