Be sure you know when to use a 1/4" offset hurricane hinge before ordering this hinge!
I need to replace an old, rusty piano hinge on the galley door of a used, homebuilt teardrop we just bought. A hurricane hinge looked like the solution, so I bought this RecPro hinge, paying no mind to the 1/4" offset in the hinge parts. I bought the cheapest, as I don't have a lot of cash to fix my old teardrop.I wasn't building a teardrop, so I was unfamiliar with many discussions on hurricane hinges I've since found on the web. I just needed to fix a leak.Well, the 1/4" offset hinge won't work for me, since the top and the door have to be even. Waste of money and time.I wish RecPro had made that clearer for folks like me who have not been immersed in the teardrop builder's world. For us, Amazon is the hardware store, not a specialty supplier.If you don't know which type of hinge you need, do a search for "hurricane hinge offset or flush" before ordering anything.
