What's not to like...
I've had pools at two different houses since 1989. Both pools were old and needed lots of attention. Both were diving pools over 25K gallons. So I have done my share of brushing and vacuuming and leaf raking/skimming. Normally I work with 3 poles -- 8-foot for brushing, 12-foot for raking/skimming the surface, and 16-foot for vacuuming the bottom. You can buy one telescoping 16-foot pole and do all three. But sometimes I have help and two poles is better. I own two 12-foot and one 16-foot -- all from Hydro Tools. These work the same as my previous poles with one exception. I had an internal locking (cam device) and it corroded and failed. So these Hydro Tools are actually my preferred locking mechanism, external collar with twist nut. You can still have problems, but more easily solved with a bit of WD40 or some wax. Poles are still aluminum and quite susceptible to corrosion if left standing in the pool or sunk to the bottom for the winter... not going to work (telescopically adjust) again after such treatment. The blue anodized finish is pleasant to the eye and smooth. The internal tube appears to be coated, but not color anodized. The grip is average and not too large like some I had before, that only I could comfortably hold with my glove size XL hand. I could give this 5 stars only if I were convince no other pole was better, but I bet those hundred dollar poles made of fiberglass are better if you like to spend more on your tools. But read the reviews on the cheap fiberglass pole, I did and it was not good. So I bought the Hydro Tools poles.

Perfect for my pool
This extends far enough that I can reach the far side of my 15 foot pool easily and I added it to my existing net, fits perfect! Very happy.

Adjustable And sturdy.
Our pool has a deep end so this adjustable pole works well with various cleaning tools. It is useful in the shorter length for skimming the surface with a leaf net, and can be extended to reach the bottom as well. The cheerful blue color looks nice and it also has a rubber hand grip.

Awesome! Must have for pools!
I've gone through several pool poles because they were either cheap and would dent and bend over time or they weren't long enough. Not anymore! This pole is very nicely made with thick aluminum, so it holds up well. It's also plenty long for my large pool. I can reach any part of it with the great extension this offers. The pole stays good and sturdy when extended too. the turn knob to lock has a nice grip and hold the pole in place well. An added bonus is at the end where the attachment goes, there are these clip covers which help big time with getting the attachment on and off. No more fighting with those white plastic clips. The only possible negative is that the pole is slightly heavier than my old one, but that's because it's made a lot better...well worth it! If you're looking for a good pool pole, get this!

Very good pole
This is my third pool pole in twenty years and by far it is the best one I ever owned.

Don't buy the used-like new "deal"!
I ordered this "used - like new" for $19.61 (at the time, the "new" price was almost $5 more) with a disclaimer from the seller (Warehouse Deals, Inc) saying that the original packaging was damaged, but the item itself was not. They were incorrect though, as it was damaged slightly with one end with a dented/flattened edge, but not so bad it was beyond being of use. The pool pole is missing the protective rubber/plastic end/grip cap. There was what I hoped to be only residual glue on the end but it seems there was some powdery chemical along the pole. While I was verifying the clamping and telescopic functions would work as they should, I started to feel a burning sensation in my fingers. I immediately went to the sink and started running cold water over the affected hand, and after several minutes doing so I think I managed to stop the chemical burn from continuing. A layer or two of skin has been burned off three of my fingers, with the first and third finger having a small spot on each, and the second finger having lost more than 3/4 of the skin's surface area between the finger tip and first joint.I would STRONGLY advise against purchasing this (or any other product that may have come into contact with caustic chemicals!) used instead of new no matter what condition the seller says it is in. The few dollars you save won't put even the smallest dent in the potential emergency room bill. I'm just thankful I was able to stop the chemical burns from progressing any further.Other than those things, the pole seems to be the usual sturdiness for cheap tools for pool care and I expect it to last a year or two with adequate care during use. The interior diameter is 1 & 1/8", with holes for attachment latches centered at 7/16" and 3 & 13/32". The clamping mechanism is all plastic so it will fail after a few years in the sun. If it weren't for the missing end capping piece and there being some sort of powdered pool chemicals still on it, I'd have rated it three stars for adequate, as described by seller.
