ADC Adtemp Mini 432 Non-Contact Infrared Thermometer

As a nurse, I have used various types of thermometers in my practice, and I can confidently say that the 432 Mini No-Touch Infrared Thermometer is a game changer. Perfect size and so practical for work.

I work at a busy metropolitan ICU. We have the $400 Exergen temporal thermometers at work, but they have been used and abused and are in high demand. Moreover, I find I don't catch a fever with them until my patient is diaphoretic and burning up. They consistently tend to read low. For these reasons I had been sticking to mostly axillary temperatures on my intubated patients that can't get an esophageal or bladder temp probe for whatever reason. Axillary temperatures can be artificially low when the patient is on high dose pressors or artifically high when we have a lot of blankets/Bair hugger on trapping heat. Oral temperatures aren't possible with an ET tube. Rectal temps are most accurate but it's simply not feasible to always have a second set of hands to turn your patient over to take a rectal temperature. I'm really only doing rectals when I'm actively trying to warm someone up or cool someone down, and only to correlate with my other readings. This is more accurate than the $400 Exergens we have at work, takes a reading in one second, and clips to my badge reel. I was on the fence, but you really should just buy it if you work in healthcare and regularly have to take temperatures. This gives me readings I believe when my patient feels hot to the touch, when the temporal thermometers we have at work still say the patient is 98.0f. Some considerations: If you have a fan pointed at the patient to cool them down or they're sweating (evaporation of sweat cools the skin), this can read artificially low, but generally you can work around this (turn the fan off for a minute, for instance). Keep in mind this is very clearly calibrated with the use directions in mind!! It's not a true temporal thermometer in the sense that the reading should not be taken over the temporal artery, but in the middle of the forehead. If you take a reading over the temporal artery with this, it will always be >100F. However, because of the way this is calibrated, temperatures seem to be mostly consistent and accurate when taken elsewhere on the body too. Granted I would never chart those readings, but any patch of skin gets me in the ballpark of the patient's true temp.

It seems hard to find a small, rechargeable thermometer for a somewhat decent price like this! It's so convenient in soo many ways. It's lightweight, easy to use, & with the help of the auto shut off feature after several seconds, it helps the battery in mine last at least a few months until I have to charge it again- even though I use it at least a few times a day. The screen shows indicator lights when it's charging, & when the battery first gets drained & won't work, you will see the word "off" flash across the screen for several seconds. It would be nice if it warned me in advance before needing a full charge. Still, it's so awesome that I no longer have to stress out about if my batteries are dead & if I have extra AA or AAA batteries on me... Simply keep the charger in my bag, & if the battery dies- simply plug it in & charge it! Within a couple of mins of charging it, it has enough juice to use it just in case it's an emergency- then simply plug it in again when done & finish charging it. The only real negative for me is that the beep sound upon using it is a bit loud, & there's no mute button. So, for that reason I'd rate this 4.5/5. I like this so much though that I ordered a second one- so, I now have 2 of these just in case I happen to misplace one.

After enduring almost 3 years of having to have my temperature taken every morning before I could enter the building to go to work (Covid nursing home rules) I can say that this little thing is far superior to the "gun" shaped one's that the NH was using. Most of the time those ones just gave a big old error sign. In which case they just wrote down a number and let me in (I know, right!). This one is very fast. Easy to use. Easy to read. Nice and small. I got rid of all my other ones and this is it! I can see where it would be excellent on babies and small children as it is very fast. Great thermometer!

Compact non contact thermometer works well for EMS

Seller sold defective item - unable to obtain meaningfully useful temperatures. Temperatures displayed are entirely random. Attempted return. Return refused by Amazon drop off as no printed label - go figure. Requested further time to print label - seller declined and item is still defective. Seller does not stand behind products but instead attempts to reroute the customer to the manufacturer. If you’re selling defective items and making efforts to avoid taking charge of said products - probably shouldn’t be calling yourself “honest medical”.

Bought this in anger after buying yet another thermometer from a local store with a replaceable buttery type that you can’t find anywhere (they know what they’re doing). This is compact, fast read, works great. Wish it was USB-C instead of micro, but at least it’s rechargeable.

So many positives! This is light weight, rechargeable and compact! I love it. Great for work. Very accurate which is hard to find these days! I love that it’s white so I hope I don’t loose it. I bought this for my work/nurse kit bag. Quite expensive for what it is but being rechargeable is a huge bonus and I guess that’s what you’re paying for. I just hope it lasts a long time.

Ho provato diversi termometri a distanza come questo, da puntare alla fronte, e sono sempre risultati troppo imprecisi. Questo invece sembra dare misurazione veramente accurate, facendo la controprova con quello classico da mettere sotto il braccio, questo differiva massimo di 0,2 gradi. Posso dunque ritenermi sottisfatto e dare 5 stelle, costa un po di più della media ma vale i soldi.
