It has very strong magnet and it is firm heavy duty, age appropriate is 4 and up but since it is so large smaller children can play with it and not choke on it.

These magnets are perfect for the tiny little hands of my 15 month old. These large double-sided magnet always ensures she will be able to place them on the board without any discouragement whatsoever. Love them!
