My application is as a gable vent fan to pull air through the attic to cool it in hot weather. This fan appears to be well made and functions properly. Installation was a breeze (pun) and I mounted it to 1/2 inch plywood with the thermostat and added a speed control (Speed Controller with On-Off Switch, 120 VAC 6.0 Amp Motor Variable Speed Controller for Ventilation Fans - $30 from Amazon). I also mounted the brackets on thick rubber washers to minimize noise and vibration. Regardless, the fan is noisier than I'd expected. It's not LOUD but I was expecting something quieter (very subjective, I know). Because it's in the attic it's fine. Good air flow and decent value for $110.

Quieter and working longer than previous fan.

My fan cam in just a couple days, oem box-inside-box, so no dents, dings or broken stuff. This fan was exactly the same size as the cheapo gable fan I installed 10 years ago in my barn. They swapped out easily, but for the trusses I had to work around (when i was 50). This fan is quiet. It's not "whisper" quiet like a Hollywood sniper rifle, but it's nothing like the $60 rattle trap it's replacing. It also comes with quality hardware and a bird screen already mounted on the exhaust side. The included thermostat isn't pre-wired, nor intuitive, so you'll need to actually read the directions when wiring it up if you use the thermostat to kick it on and off. This one is the higher cfm model, which comes in lime green with black screen and black hardeware. Once I was back on the ground, I gotta admit - it's an awfully pretty fan for a barn. Albeit a "cool" barn.

Item arrived and made alot of noise. Went back to Amazon which had a very lengthy list of trouble shooting suggestions. RED FLAG! Why would you need this if it is a plug and play fan(after adding the electric plug)? Decided to order another fan to see if the quality is this bad. While waiting for the second order to arrive in two days, I worked on the first fan and found the fan blade was not attached correctly (tightened down) and was not correctly seated. Very poor quaility control! After making the adjustments, the fan worked as advertisted and I installed it. Three weeks later it meets all the review marks as listed on Amazon. However, when I tried to return the second unopened box, Amazon said I had to pay a $18.99 UPS shipping charge. Which I did under protest because the first fan if it had come correctly manufactured or checked by quaility control, I never would have ordered the second unit. Bottom line, I should have returned the first fan. Got my refund and installed the second fan ordered after making any adjustments if needed.
