Good replacement for the OEM wiring
Installed on a 02 Jetta GLS 1.8t Wagon. Pay attention to when you put the harness in, whoever the individual labeling this harness is got the ac compressor plug and alternator plug backwards and this is not the first review to say this. Other than that it works like a very well. If you have an issue with the alternator wire trying to melt down your fuse box on top of the battery (common MK4 issue) this will more than likely fix the issue. OEM wiring voltage at idle was 12.3-12.8 with ac on and fan on high and the headlights off, after the new wire voltage was 13.4-13.8 with same conditions. After driving for an hour with the ac on in 98 degree weather the wire was cool to the touch. Over all I'm happy with it and if you can wait the 11 days it took to get delivered I'd recommend it as a good replacement for the OEM wiring. The ends of the cable are sealed but I would recommend dielectric grease as an added measure of protection.

Perfect fit for 2005 Jetta MK4
Even though I work slow, it still only took me about 45 minutes to replace this alternator/charging harness on my 2005 Jetta MK4. The hardest part was removing the harness clamp on the back of the alternator - the clamp is secured with a 9mm nut that's a little hard to get to...but hey, no complaints here. I think everyone reading this post knows that the MK4's have a problem with this particular wire/harness getting too hot and melting the fuse block, and mine was no different. I was glad to see that the new harness from CF Advance is a heavier gauge than the OEM harness that was originally on the car. If you replace this charging harness I highly recommend replacing the plastic fuseblock clipped to the top of the battery. Of course if you need to replace this harness, the fuseblock is probably already melted anyway...

03 Jetta 1.9 TDI
Since it’s not labeled as a 1.9 harness I’m not going to knock it for this but if you’re like me with a mk4 tdi and you can’t find a harness anywhere else this one will work with one exception. The connector to the compressor has to be extended about 4in to make the harness fit properly. Really simple fix for it and other than that the harness fits perfectly with no issues.

Connectors labeled wrong
It was nice of them to label the connectors, but they were labeled wrong which caused me to install the compressor plug and alternator wrong...this resulted in my car glitching out and shutting off on the highway.I switched the connectors and it seems like it's running normal now. Don't make the same mistake I did.

2002 JETTA WAGON GLS
It's been almost a week since I replaced the alternator wiring harness with this one. Along with a new Bosch voltage regulator and new fuse box(Amazon $13) and 150amp fuse(to replace the 110 the fusebox comes with, need 150amp for alternator). Has solved the common issue of melting fuse boxes. Cleaned all grounds thoroughly under battery tray during installation of parts. Now getting a strong 14-14.4 volts as opposed to barely 12.8-13 to not charging at all. Alternator wire at fuse box no longer getting extremely hot and melting it! The G Wag is running nice and strong now! If your fuse box keeps melting in your mk4 or hardly recharging, check the alternator voltage regulator it may need replacing, alternator wiring harness to see if its corroded and the grounds under the battery tray to make sure they're clean! Also, when replacing the fuse box, make sure to replace the 110amp fuse for the alternator it comes with to a 150amp!
