Swiss Safe Premium 6" Glow Sticks - Extra Bright, 12+ Hour Duration, Emergency Ready

The light sticks are perfect for the power failures in my area and for camping for the latrine use. I also have six in each BOB pack for emergency lighting. The price was right too.

I was most impressed by the ease in ordering, the speed I received it and the quality of the item. The one I tested was very brilliant making it a very useful tool for a car emergency or a kid walking in the dark (Halloween). There is nothing to dislike. p.s. Our cats love this one.

EDITED AT 6 HOURS, ADDED TO BOTTOM. Individually packaged in fairly heavy foil/plastic material, my initial thought was to the immediate feel of quality. These certainly don't strike you as a child's toy. Included with each stick is a 38" length of fairly light-duty elastic string - a nice touch. You'll notice that, yes, as many others point out - the package does state a 6 hour lifespan. I'll follow up once I've seen it at 6 and 12 hours... The internal capsule breaks easily and full brightness is achieved in a few moments with a couple of good shakes. At 12" the brightness was plenty enough to read the fine print on the back of a Tums bottle. At 36" my fire extinguisher was dimly visible. After a few minutes in a pitch black garage my eyes had adjusted and the glow sticks certainly illuminated my immediate area well enough to avoid a stubbed toe, but not much more than that. Overall I'd say these are a good choice for a basic preparedness bag, first aid kit, tool box, etc. I will revise to a five star review if there is still a reasonable light-output at the 12 hour mark. 6-HOUR EDIT: I've added an additional image from the 6-hour mark. Sure - it's still glowing - but at a markedly lower brightness. I can hold it close to objects to read or MUCH closer to the ground to walk but the illumination isn't enough that I'd count on it. I'd have cracked another one by now were I in a situation where light was critical. Definitively NOT useful as a 12-hour (or 6-hour) glow stick. I see no reason to follow up at 12-hours. I'd be tossing it before 6. Definitely still worth 4 stars, nothing more, nothing less.

Pretty bright but only last about 6 hrs not 12, but I'm not complaining...ill buy again...once yer eyes night vision kicks in these should be very bright...

I purchased Swiss Safe glow sticks not for their intended purpose but for something I’ll be trying in the next few weeks. This type of customer service is very much appreciated and confident he’ll uphold his guarantee. The glow sticks are designed and constructed well. They’re capable of standing upright and also equipped with a hole and hook if hanging is desired. The purpose of my purchase is to utilize them for night fishing where a submerged light is used to attract fish. The hole will be used to attach a monofilament line along with a small lead weight to keep it submerged. This idea keeps it simple compared to others who carry burdensome 12V batteries to energize a submersible lamp. I don’t anticipate any setbacks since these glow sticks are water proof and fully submersible and the 12+ hour duration is more than what’s needed. Also, the green glow has been known to attract fish. Taking all into consideration, this particular glow stick is the best choice for my upcoming adventure.

These are great for a ton of reasons. If your power goes out, boom light for 12 hours. Need to mark a trail at night? Perfect solution All night barracks rave party? You got it.These were a staple to me in the infantry and now excellent to have around the house for snow storms and general power outages.

I’ve been using chem-lights, cylume sticks, glow sticks, whatever you want to call them for more than thirty years personally and professionally. These are the best I’ve used. I’ve gotten more than 24 hours of light out of these 12 hour sticks and they are super bright for the first 12 hours. Great light sticks!

When I first purchased this I bought it for emergency 'just in case' supplies. I decided to crack one open to review it and great Caesar's ghost was it bright. My eyes burned so badly it made me think I was watching the notebook again. The very brightness very likely was seen in orbit and I regret that since I am most likely on a watch list for testing nuclear materials.. WOW. Though all jokes aside, its super bright for about 30 min. then after 30 min it loses 50% of its luminosity then after 1-2 hours its such a soft light that it can't light a room or provide much light at all. I would even have trouble finding it in a dark room after realizing how much the chemical reaction dies down after 1-2 hours. So if you are looking for a glowstick that lasts 1-2 hours then great. Otherwise, its probably best to get a flashlight or something that can provide support in other forms.
