Will this work for 7/16" chipboard and 5/8" plywood?

Hello, and thank you for your interest in our Calculated Industries 8115 Multi Mark Drywall Cutout Locator Tool. This tool should work just fine on 7/16" chipboard and 5/8 in plywood. On the 5/8" plywood it might have a slightly weaker grip so you may need to fine tune the alignment in some cases.

will this clip into an outlet box after the outlet has been installed?

no.this clips into threaded holes in box that that the outlet screws into, you must remove outlet before you can use this unit. do you realize that the jig pictured is for ceiling boxes, which are round or octagonal, I doubt you want to install an outlet into that kind of a box,

Does this cut both single and double gang boxes?

no this is for ceiling boxes only, find other kit by same people that will cut gang boxes

I am installing 3/4" knotty pine. Will this work for that stock? Or should I just use lipstick?
