I saw the interview about the book, I liked it, so I thought it will be an interesting book, written by 2 interesting people, Marlo Thomas and Phil Donahue, you cannot go wrong!! Exactly, I did not go wrong.Many good examples of "how to make a marriage last", fun to read, and you can learn more than one thing or two. Besides I learned a lot from Phil Donahue, so why not buy his book, and Marlo Thomas, sign me up for anything she does. You go "That Girl"!!

This book was a impulse purchase because I liked the Donahues. Separately and together. They are both eloquent and well spoken and I enjoyed them. I found the book fascinating and while I enjoyed the celebrity couples, I thought that it should have had more non celebrities in it. As their experiences would have shown how different and sometimes more difficult it had been for them to maintain a long-term marriage. I enjoyed it immensely.

I have now bought this marvelous book in audio form and hard cover five times. One for me and because I know all three of my adult children and my dad will and do enjoy it. It was a book I wanted to write but wouldn’t have had the celebrity connections to make it happen. To learn about the secrets of other people’s marriages is so informative and fun. It shows me where to improve, that others have gone through similar experiences and we are not alone in our marriage journeys. This was a brilliant idea. I love listening to the audio version. To hear about older marriages and challenges helps me to see different aspects of people’s lives and how they overcame things. Some people forgive and maybe don’t forget but get past things. Others have their egos challenged and had to get them in check. I would look to this book as a gift for any married couple I cared about. This can only enhance their lives because we know we never had lessons in marriage 101. But this book has solved that problem. I love it.

As someone who married the wrong man for me many years ago and have yet to remarry, I'm always curious about long lasting marriages. Personally, I've known people married more than 75 years and loved the example they set.Only on the third couple in this book, I already find it so interesting and full of hope and good, solid advice and real-life stories.It's well written and feels as if I'm sitting in on these fun and revealing interviews.Great collaborative work, Phil and Marlo!Update: I had put the book down for a while and I'm so glad I picked it up again to finish reading all of these glimpses into married life.Whether it's an ex president and first lady, a couple of centurions setting a Guinness record, old "friends" such as Chip and Joanna Gaines, couples with tragedies to work through, etc., there are lots of words of wisdom being passed on to the readers from nearly every couple interviewed. In the process, you learn a lot about Marlo's and Phil's marriage as well.Enjoy your journey through all forty-one marriages.

As soon as I heard about this book I pre-ordered it to give to my husband for our wedding anniversary - and as serendipity would have it our Wedding Anniversary is the same day as Marlo and Phil... May 21st. This book is beautiful! The stories of the various couples is wonderful and it is enlightening to read as there is no - perfect recipe for the perfect marriage.... they all are unique and special. The book is very easy to read and broken into interviews/stories of each couple. I read the book aloud to my husband - it was a fun daily event. I have ordered the book to gift to our son as he gets married this Friday. This will be a GO TO Wedding gift for me! Absolutely wonderful.... Well done,,, Bravo Marlo and Phil!

I saw an interview with Marlo and Phil and looked forward to reading their new book. I was not only not disappointed, but it brought with it an unexpected gift. My husband was also very interested in reading interviews of couples with strong marriages and I suggested he read a chapter to me each night while we were having our cocktails in the living room. (Yes! We are empty nesters now!) Now each evening I look forward to hearing what some great couples have to say about keeping their marriage interesting, how they became a couple and other fun information about them. They are terrific interviews! It often helps start a discussion between us. I never knew how much fun it was to share a book together! We have been married a long time and are still learning things about each other. (Thanks you Marlo and Phil!) ❤️

I ordered the book on impulse after watching the couple do their multiple promotional interviews on TV. I also very much respect Marlow Thomas’ continued leadership at St Jude’s Childrens Hospital. Families with children battling life threatening issues need the care St Judes offers even when they may not have any way to pay for the extensive professional & expensive care they need. Of course, I watched the Phil Donahue show & his tough interviewing of his guests including world leaders. My big surprise was what a huge volume the book is!

I love the stories and the fact that each story is quit short. You can start in the middle of the book if you like.Thank for writing such an interesting book!

Very insightful. Loved what the Texas couple married 80 years had to say. It gives me hope and it put a smile on my face. Thank you for talking about marriage.
