Gatco 850MX Latitude II 12" Grab bar, Matte Black

We installed two of these bars in our new shower. A 36" one is horizontal located 3 feet off the floor on the back wall of the shower. It is so nice to either lean against or to grab. Since this was a new shower, I had the plumber install 2" x 6" PT wood backing between the metal studs before the new wallboard and tile were installed. There is no way this bar can come loose. (but see below for recommendation if you don't have stud or other wood backing). The 18" bar  Gatco 864 Marina Grab Bar, Satin Nickel, 18-Inch  was installed vertically about 4 feet off the floor and 6" inside the shower curb on the end wall opposite the shower head.This is a quality product both in looks and function. The finish coordinates perfectly with the other fixtures (Gatco and Hansgrohe) in our new shower. It has the looks and feel of quality. It represents excellent value. The 1-1/4" diameter looks much better than the bulky 1-1/2" diameter of other bars.If you have to mount this (or any other) grab bar into a tile wall without stud or other backing, I highly recommend using Snaptoggles by Toggler  Toggler Snaptoggle Toggle Bolt and Drywall Molly (Pack of 4) . They may cost slightly more than other fasteners (like the standard wing toggles) but they are "snap" to install. The two big benefits of Snaptoggles are (1) that you can mount and remove the fixture you are mounting without disturbing the fastener base and (2) only a 1/2" hole has to be drilling in the tile shower wall. For a shower, I highly recommend using stainless steel bolts. And put silicone sealant on the fastener and fixture back before mounting.

This is the 5th one (various sizes) that I have purchased for clients and I am sure it will not be the last. The quality is 10 out of 10.

Did not get to use. Too bulky for what we needed. Very sturdy, nice finish. Wish we could return but it’s past 30 days thanks to our contractor.

Not your run of the mill grab bars. These look really nice in your shower or around the tub.

I purchased multiple products in this line for a bath remodeling project.I am completely happy with all the products purchased including the matching faucets which were somewhat expensive.My only critisism might be of the 3 light wall sconce. Somewhat pricy and the glass globes are very fragile. One came broken and another had surface blemishes. Amazon did promptly replace the damaged product with no hassle.I however did order two replacement globes directly from Gatco at my expense to keep in reserve. All in all a good. attractive product, but the lighting globes are destined to become a problem in the future

I don't know how easy or hard installation was, my contractor did it, and put in LOTS of sturdy backing.I had 5 grab bars/towel bars installed in each bathroom. last year preparing for "aging in place." 3 weeks ago I had a stroke. I feel safe in my bathrooms.

Love the look! Much more modern than most grab bars. I chose it to match the Gatco suite in my newly remodeled guest bath and installed it just inside the shower wall (36" up from the floor per ADA). Great for elderly visitors who need to hold on stepping in or out of the tub (or if/when I break my ankle again!). It came in perfect condition exactly when promised, at a better price than I could duplicate locally.

This is poorly designed from the get go. The mounting plate is designed in such a way that you cannot access the screw holes if you are mounting it in a vertical orientation, such as on the wall entering a shower. There is a bolt on the back of the plate that you can loosen to turn the plate allowing access, but once done you cannot access the bolt to tighten it back up. Whoever designed this clearly never tried to install it. Avoid at all cost.

Excellent safety bar for shower. After installation the bar is secure. The bar is of excellent quality.

Ordered two.One came with flat finish the other one with glossy. ))) are you serious?
