Swing-A-Way Comfort Grip Jar Opener - Red

This Swing-A-Way design has never failed to open a jar for me. It even worked on wide mouth jars with frozen-on lids. However, the claws are little small, hard to set on some lids, and occasionally slip off. You first have to set the lever handle into the right hole along the bar which takes some study and time. It doesn't just fall into place. Then, you have to hold the level down very tightly and turn. You do need some degree of strength to operate this thing. I have large hands and wish the lever handle was an inch or so longer. After I purchased this, I found out that this brand makes a larger 8.8" version, but the lever handle on that one seems to be about the same length. It allows you to open even larger jars like you'd find in a commercial kitchen. For my home use, the 7.5" is ok for most jars, but I'd much prefer the longer 8.8" version for extra leverage. I do like the rubber on the handle which makes it more comfortable to grip. Overall, it works well, but a couple of updates would make it even better.

This is a game changer for me trying to open bottles, I have arthritis and it is hard to open bottles, this is so simply and easy to use

It works, but is a little awkward to get locked on to jar top. You have to sort of hold it in left hand, hold lever in place with one finger & try to get it to land in one of the holes, then, it sort of loosely locks on. Works, and is great since works on wide jars. Good price. Probably a better one out there.

After trying SO many other kinds, I found this one and bought extras for myself and friends. This opener adjusts to fit bottle caps up to large jar lids and is easy to use. My kitchen is small, so this size is great to add to my utensil drawer. It fits easily into my weak, arthritic hands and opens bottles and jars with little strain. My hands love it! Highly recommended for anyone with hand grip or mobility issues, from children through senior citizens. Hope they never stop making these!

I can open any jar or even a 2 liter with this! Sometimes the lids are on too tight but with this tool I can remove any lid! I love it. The grip is awesome. Material is great. Super easy to use.

Ouvre-bocal de petite taille et d'apparence un peu "cheap". Fonctionne correctement pour l'usage prévu, mais demande un peu de force et d'habileté, ne se fixant pas sur le bocal. En fait, c'est une espèce de grosse clef à molette sans molette, où l'usage de la force n'est pas requise où l'on croit, c'est-à-dire pour ouvrir le bocal, mais pour le tenir. Malgré plusieurs essais, il semble très difficile de ne pas abîmer le couvercle que l'on cherche à ôter, l'ouvre-bocal mordant généreusement les bords du couvercle. La conservation ou la réutilisation du bocal sont ainsi sérieusement compromises. Du coup, on ne comprend vraiment ce que l'on gagne par rapport à l'ouverture avec l'extrémité d'un couteau sans pointe...

I have owned one of these for years, brought mine up, to mums the other day as none of her various new fangled contraptions would open a particularly stubborn jar - my ancient Swing Away did the job in a jiffy and with ease, as always. Made of sturdy metal, simple to operate, will open any jar of any size effortlessly and without damaging the lids. Ordered two from Amazon for family members and I was delighted these are still manufactured - long may they be so. A must for every kitchen - You will not be disappointed.
