Superior Pump 91570 3300GPH Thermoplastic Submersible Utility Pump with 10-Foot Cord, 1/2 HP

This is my first review ever, but I felt the need to write one about this product. I thought I was going to need to spend way more price wise to drain the pool, but this pump got the job done with no issues. Our pool had literally turned into a pond with bullfrogs, oak pollen and leaves at the bottom. I used just a normal garden hose and purchased a 18 in. In-Line GFCI Cord for safety purposes. Other than that, you don’t need anything. It did stop draining three times. I don’t know exactly what fixed it, but I hooked up the hose to the water faucet and let it run in case the hose had become clogged. And I pulled the pump out the water and let it sit for a bit. But then once I hooked it back up, it worked fine. I tried to keep it as flat, upright as possible. Our pool has a steep decline, and it didn’t like not being flat that much. I also kept the power cord attached to the extension cord out of the water. Otherwise I would have just dropped to the bottom of the pool. I don’t think you can get more debris in a pool than what we had, and it still drained it fine. I 100% recommend this little guy!

I have a 20,000 gallon Swimming pool that I needed to drain. If you use a garden hose it won't pump at 3,300 gallons per hour. If can use up to 1 1/2" hose I believe and that would let it pump a lot faster. It took over 24 hours to drain my pool. I bought this pump 9 months ago. The overhaul of the pool is way behind schedule. This has caused this little pump to spend months sitting in an empty pool in direct sunlight waiting to be needed to pump out the next rain. it's a vertical pump of 10 ft or so which it handles like it's nothing. I don't suggest anyone do the same buy I accidentally left this pump on last week for at least 48 hours after the pool was drained. It's January in Texas so it's really all that hot right now, but I let it run dry for over 2 days. When I found I left it plugged in I just unplugged it. I figured I would be buying another one next rain. Then the rain came; It was down in the pool where it has stayed 90% of the time. I plugged it back in and it pumped just like it did the day I bought it. I was absolutely amazed. I'm going to start taking better care of it now. It's not easy belonging to me, but this 1/2 HP pump made the grade.

We don’t have a way to drain our pool when it overflows so this was the perfect tool to use. It operates smoothly, quietly and fast. We’re here in the Phoenix area and when and if it rains, it pours and floods quickly. It’s super easy to use. Hook up the water hose, drop it in the pool and plug it up. When you’re done, unplug. I’m glad we purchased it and I would recommend it. We’ve only had it a month so I can’t speak on the longevity. If anything changes, I’ll update.

Edit: This device is very well built. It turns out that the issue I was having with the water spray was related to a blockage in the drain line I was using. Clearing the blockage nearly completely removed the spray; it's now just a trickle. I would guess that If I used the larger diameter (not the 3/4 line) it would remove it completely. The limitation of the level you can drain to is a design issue and is the reason for the reduction from 5 stars. A shutoff switch also is not present which is another reason for the reduction from 5 starts. As a result I updated the stars to 4 from 3. The original review is below. This device seems exceptionally well built in comparison to other pumps I've used. My biggest problems is that the lowest you can pump down to is about an inch to an inch and a half and that the thing seems like it was designed to spray a stream of water about 10 feet out the side off the top of it. That makes it exceptionally awkward to use. If I had known these things I most likely would not have bought it and honestly can recommend it unless you don't mind sending water 10 feet through the air from where your pumping and you don't really need to pump all the water from the area that's wet. Not sure if it matters, but I am using it with the 3/4 GHT connection. I don't know if it sprays water if you use the inch and a quarter, but that wouldn't work for my application.

Needed a pump to remove all the water from my above ground pool for a liner change. It was easy to set up and worked over the span of a few days without issue.

This is my FOURTH Superior Pump 91570 in 16 months. SIXTEEN MONTHS. Let that sink in for a minute. I should have learned after the first one died on me, but like an idiot, I thought maybe I just got unlucky. Then the second one crapped out. Still gave them the benefit of the doubt - maybe it was a bad batch? Nope. Third one lasted maybe 4 months before it started making sounds like a dying whale and then just... stopped. Now here I am, writing this review after pump #4 has joined its brothers in the trash heap. The pattern is always the same - works fine for a few months, then starts getting louder, vibrating more, and eventually just gives up entirely. The impeller housing cracks, the motor burns out, or some other critical component fails right when you need it most. The "3300 GPH" rating is clearly optimistic fantasy. These pumps might hit those numbers for the brief time they actually work, but what good is high flow rate when you're replacing the damn thing every 4 months? I'm done. Superior Pump fooled me three times with their promises of reliability and performance. Never again. My wallet has taken enough abuse. Save yourself the headache, the money, and the stress. Buy literally anything else.

I had low expectations on this pump but it did extremely well draining my pool. I took the recommendation on one of the reviews to buy a larger hose for it because the garden hose was going to pop out slower. My pool is 17,000 gallons and it pumped the pool completely in less than 7 hours that's amazing. That local ducks were not happy at all LOL. It is very quiet and it works very well. This is a powerful pump, I purchased this to use in my in ground swimming pool. I had a small pump before that attached to a garden hose. It took a lot of time to remove standing water in the bottom of the pool after using the pool pump to empty most of the water out. I had to fix some rough spots and cracks in the concrete. I decided to purchase a stronger pump to get the water out as I was using a hose to wet sand damaged areas in the pool. This pump comes with a 1.5 inch NPT adapter which allows you to hook up a garden hose to remove standing water. Even though the pump is very strong it is still restricted by the diameter of the garden hose. I decided to use my 1.5 inch hose that I use to clean the pool with, I purchased this item from amazon (Replacement for Hayward SPX1091Z7, SPX1091Z4 Adapters fits Pool Filter Pump Hose Adapter Fits 1 1/4"-1 1/2" Thread 1.5" Fitting Connector PVC 2 Pack) it threaded directly into the pump and now the water comes out in buckets! just thread the adapter fitting into the pump and attach the end of your1.5 inch pool cleaning hose onto the adapter. Even with my 5/8 inch hose running full blast into the pool the pump will empty all the water out. Pump works great and is made by a well known company. If I end up having to drain the pool again I will probably just use this pump instead of putting wear and tear on my expensive pool pump.

J'ai acheté cette pompe pour vider un spa creusé de 8 places. Lorsque j'ai déballé la boîte, à la 1ère vue je trouvais la pompe petite et me demandais si elle aurait exécuté le travail. À ma grande surprise, la pompe a effectuer la tâche à merveille avec une rapidité moyenne. La pompe est très silencieuse. J'y ai installé un boyau de 50 pieds afin de rediriger l'eau dans la forêt arrière. Et cela n'a pris que quelques secondes afin de pousser l'eau au bout de ce boyau et ce, avec une bonne poussée. Il faut noter que cette pompe de 1/2 Hp n'est pas adaptée voire même recommandée pour pomper de grosses quantités d'eau telle une piscine ou étang artificiel. Personnellement j'opterais pour une pompe plus grosse avec un moteur plus performant afin d'effectuer des grosses tâches. Je suis satisfait du rendement de cette pompe et n'hésiterais pas à en recommander une autre de même marque mais plus performante pour des besoins futurs

I used the same brand to clean out my hot water tank for years. This one is pumping my pool water to my roof for solar heating. No issues at all, very happy with it and cheaper than Home Depot.

Got it less than a month but up to now the pump works as expected. Very quiet. I use it for my backyard fountain. Will update my review after summer season.
