14 Inch LED Spare Tire Brake Light Compatible with 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK

I had a previous version from another manufacture that was not as bright nor did it have 2 "rows" of LED's. This thing is bright and has a smoked look to it. When you are braking everyone will know which is good. Im not saying this will prevent getting rear ended but it definitely helps because you cant miss these lights. Super easy install because it only has 2 wires, a positive and negative. It mounts up on your spare tire carrier and the force of the spare tire holds it in place. I will update my photos with some action shots when i have a chance. Its also completely waterproof as you can see by the excellent sealing on the photos i uploaded.

This thing is perfect for the stock 17" spare wheel that came with my 2016 Jeep Wrangler. I used a little double sided mounting tape on the tire carrier to keep it in place during tire changes. For the wiring, I used two "vampire" spade clips to tap into the brake light inside the weird Jeep para-scope third brake light housing. It would be nice if it shipped with these, but they are cheap and easy to find. This light went down 26 miles of VERY VERY BUMPY trail, was exposed to desert heat (127° F (no, not kidding))---and kept working through a torrential rain that lasted two days. People following me out to and back from deep West Texas said they could pick me out at a distance because the light was so distinct. It does not do ANY disco tricks, but I'm super impressed with it. The one job it does, it does very well.

So far so good. First before you install be sure to watch a video about how to remove the back of the tail light assembly for your Jeep. You only get the light and the attached wires. Nothing else. You don't receive any instructions nor electrical connections. What I had to do was get an electrical tap and black shrink tape to slide along the wire length to where it attaches to the plastic circle mount itself so the exposed wires look black and factory-like (as opposed to having two white and red wires exposed on the back of the Jeep). I tapped into the rear light about an inch or so away so the two taps could fit in that area. It all screwed together well enough to look seamless. End result - looks nice and bright

Bought this to install on my son’s 2005 Jeep Wrangler TJ with 15 inch rims. Knew we might have to do a little modification given the lugs on the TJ. It fit inside the 15 inch rims without having to make any adjustments. We did have to do some other work on the holes in order to fit the bolt pattern. We used a drill and a box cutter to bevel out all three holes a little bit—box cutter actually worked better. We couldn't find a file in the tool box and we don’t own a dremel. Beveling our the holes gave it a nice snug fit. Used some butt splice connectors and didn’t have to use any extra wire with what we had with the Jeep and the insert was plenty. Really like the two rings of lights—plenty bright and very happy. Haven’t taken it back to the inspection place to see if they’ll pass it as the third light. We are in Texas.

Install was quick and easy. Did not come with instructions, but I opted to ignore the "This side up" molded into the plastic housing and mount with the wires protruding from the top. This way, I was able to route them right up into the existing 3rd tail-light assembly (mounted over spare tire) on my 2009 JK and tie them in out-of-sight. Dropped the easy to install rating from 5 to 4 stars due to the lack of instructions and I had to verify which wires were hot/ground before installing.

Install was easy, just slips over the studs on the tire carrier, and is held in place by the wheel. It is NOT plug & play, so there is some wiring required. The light assembly came with plenty of wire length, so I just removed the stock 3rd brake light assembly, cut the wires, & connected the wiring to the new light. Not quite as bright as I would have hoped, but that may be because the lens that covers the LEDs is tinted. Overall, happy with the way it turned out.

This thing comes with no instructions, so for those of you who are like me and have 0 clue how to connect wires, here's what I did. Internet search for removal of brake light cover. I wrapped the wires with black friction tape (to hide the red) and ran through inside of tire carrier and up into the cover. I used these blue splice connectors https://www.amazon.com/3M-Scotchlok-Electrical-Connector-stranded/dp/B0035R7TKO/ref=sr_1_15?dchild=1&keywords=SUITCASE+CONNECTORS&qid=1612805813&sr=8-15 to connect black to black, and green/white Jeep wire to the red xprite wire. Wrapped my connections and closed the cover back up. The brake light looks awesome and is extremely bright.

Ok. I bought this for my Jeep Wrangler TJ (2004) and it DOES work.....BUT major modification is needed and NOT for the unskilled DIY person. I had to use a Dremmel and cut off the outside ring of the housing for the light and even after doing that it barely fit into the 15” wheel I have. ALSO I had to modify the mounting holes for the light to mount on my Wrangler. The BOLT pattern on a TJ is 5x4.5 and requires a Dremmel to widen the mounting holes. After all that, its perfect! It took me about 2 hours total to install with all mods I had to do

Looks pretty good and solid built but i wish it was a lot brighter

Very easy install on my Jeep JK tire carrier. I have a large aftermarket rear bumper and swing out tire carrier with a 33" A/T tire. It mounts easily and wires to the original brake light wires. Really lights up the spare tire when braking.

Easy to install. My sister in law recognized my Jeep because it is out standing. There is also a safety aspect to it. People see me when I’m stopped.

Really great product. I’ve got a lot of comments on the ring especially the second row of LEDs. Simple install, I suggest using the high quality shrink wraps with the glue inside.
