I guess I got what I paid for...
I knew these were a gamble due to the price, but thought despite a few bad reviews it was worth a shot. There were no instructions (putting it together is rather straightforward, but a parts list would have been nice). The wood itself is very light and may very well be balsa. Staining is shoddy, a whole corner of unstained wood can be seen along the edge of one of the panels. The metal components arrived very bent, the box it came in was undamaged. Overall, not worth it, but could be DIY'd into being acceptable, maybe.

Instructions wrong drill bit size for drywall anchors, wood gives splinters
Looks nice enough but instructions say to use a 5mm drill bit when you need a 6mm bit to fit the drywall anchors. Added a bit of headache to redrill each of the holes.Also wood is not sanded very well and I got a splinter just from removing it from the packaging.Otherwise decent enough value for money, as it was only $15.

Cheap balsa wood, nice brackets
Walnut dyed balsa wood. The brackets feel strong enough, I figure I can replace the wood down the line, but for this price it should have decent wood. It flexes terribly if I hang one towel on the hook.

Great shelves
These shelves are really cute and sturdy. I love the rustic look. I liked them so much I even ordered another set for my Mom after she told me how much she liked mine.

very cheaply made
This product seemed like it would work well. It fell apart, the screws won't stay in if you try to apply any pressure, you split the wood. The product was a fail for me.
