can it run on AC power? We need the unit be on all the time.

Yes if you plug the battery charger in to the unit, it will work.

Out of the box i charged the battery for over 8 hours. once i unplugged the unit it automatically turns off. what am i missing?

There is a plastic sticker over the battery terminals. You gave to pull this off for the battery to actually charge. The instructions do not mention this, and it’s not obvious. You need to open the battery compartment, remove the battery, remove the sticker, reinstall, THEN charge.

On my huepar b03cg, the battery compartment cover is sealed. how does it open? i am trying to pry it open with my fingers. does it need a screwdriver?

There’s a clip that holds the cover on. It’s a little finicky but you just need to pry it a little and the battery cover will open

Will the levels still work (self-level function) if the unit is placed upside down to be close to the floor?

I just tested it and it does not work upside-down. You could always measure down from the line when working near the floor.
