Extends handrail beyond standard distance from wall
The handrail is installed on a wall where the lower part of the wall was "furred out" so upper brackets needed more extension than lower standard brackets from the wall to maintain a straight handrail. The extension on these brackets is 3 7/16 inches from the wall to where the center of the bracket is attached to the handrail. Traditional brackets measure around 2 3/8 to 2 1/2 inches from the wall to where the center of the bracket is attached to the handrail.
