I use this for crawdad trap retrieval and it is way stronger than I require, but also has the right amount of weight to drag with battlecord in up to 50' of water and still be able to feel the bottom, obstructions, and traps at that depth. Lighter hooks tend to skip over traps and heavier hooks catch rocks. I have latched on to trees and such and pulled as hard as two 250 hp outboard motors could, and no bending. I even thinned out the tines on a couple of them to 1\4" or so to catch smaller mesh traps and they are strong enough to turn over 200lb rocks and pull 12" waterlogged trees to the surface without bending still. Paired with 3600lb battlecord, they are plenty strong. Welds are excellent.

This is well made. I had my doubts, but after using it for crabbing it makes retrieving the lines a lot easier and keeps the line away from the boat and your prop. The weight seemed a bit light at first but after using it there was no problem with that. I would recommend grinding the points off the hooks they're very sharp and not needed for retrieving line. I would buy it again if needed. 🦀

This hook is extremely strong, but at least for the application I used it for -- dragging trash (tires, pipe, rope, tools, etc.) out of the lake around my customer's dock -- it was too light in weight. In fact, the buoyancy of the grappling rope was enough to keep the hook from staying on the bottom. It needed about 8 oz. of weight added to be effective in this application.
