How do you calculate that a pint is 14 ounces

That's right, Haagen Dazs reduced pints to 14 oz in 2009 and quarts to 28 oz, supposedly to maintain the price, claiming there costs of ingredients had increased by 25%. The company wrote to me that this was a "slight" reduction in size and they wanted to help us all be able to keep buying their product during the recession [sic]. Soon after, they then raised the price and the combination of the downsizing and the price raise was 60%. Haagen Dazs was long ago bought out by a corporation that makes other brands. These, like most ice cream, are full of air bubbles, sometimes close to 50%! Haagen Dazs is at leased a much higher percentage of ice cream compared to emulsion. Remember also that the half gallon, 64 oz, went down by steps to 48 oz. Recently they seemed to have done the same in Europe. It is totally dishonest, like all downsizing. What you buy for x number of people in a household doesn't go as far.

How does this stay cold

It comes in a box with dry ice on it. Mine arrived freezer cold.

I live in florida how long does this take to melt

You'll probably finish the point before it has a chance to melt but in my experience it takes about 15 or 20 minutes to soften at room temperature or 14 seconds in the microwave makes for a perfectly soft and delicious treat! Enjoy
