This filter blocks all the smells and I use it on the train or very close quarters & long rides (plane trips). It is heavier than my other single filter and can be heavy on the bridge of my very fine nose. The combination gas and vapor cartridge with P100 particulate filter protects against organic vapors, chlorine, hydrogen chlorine, hydrogen flouride, ammonia, methylamine and formaldehyde with minimum 99.97% efficiency. I use it with my half mask, but it also works with a full mask (pictured). They are all made in mexico

These might take a little extra breath to breathe through than smaller designs they offer, but they definitely block scents and particulates, and they have good documentation with successful tests by OSHA etc. I'd say get these for VOC period, because if you want to block VOC you should probably have particulates too incase you decide to grind/file/sand resin or other materials that consist of VOC. This really seals up very well and the adjustments are versatile and will fit practically any average head out there. No fogging up of glasses which, if a mask fogs glasses... that means there's esapage of breath/not a good seal. This seals VERY well. You will need to take pretty deep breaths in my experience, but this absolutely does the job.
