Strong but smooth; a dark coffee lovers dream
If like me, you prefer a strong, bold, robust coffee, you will love this roast. Don’t get me wrong, it is not a Starbucks bitter strong taste, but the smoothest dark roast you may have ever tasted. I continually purchase many varieties of coffee as I am done with over-priced cafe coffee and am making more coffee at home. After a trip to Kauai this past summer I visited the Kauai Coffee Plantation, it is the largest in the US. I love all their varieties but as with any bean, the dark roast is always my favorite. I was in Kona the week before visiting Kauai and I still loved the Kauai Dark Roast the best. I have purchased 100% Kona beans here on Amazon but I still prefer the Kauai brand. Smoothest dark roast with its own distinct taste. Always fresh.

Terrific Kona beans, adds a smooth layer to any blend.
When grinding our own blends of flavored coffees, the coarser the grind, the less acidic, and adding Kona to the blend also makes a very smooth layer to any blend. If you want a delicious Blackberry flavored coffee, San Marco is what to buy. We grind a blend of 6 parts Blackberry to 3 parts "Christopher Bean" brand Chocolate Decadence to 2 parts Kona. You end up with a deliciously smooth blend to start your day, that's a pleasure to sip back and say, "Aaah". BTW: Christopher Bean has so many delicious flavors. We haven't met one of their flavors yet that we didn't like. And a great value for your money.

Strong Flavor with a Touch of Aloha
I recently tried the Koloa Estate Dark Roast, and it brings a taste of the islands to my morning routine. The coffee has a strong, robust flavor that I enjoy, but it's a bit too strong for my wife. I like the nuttiness and strong aroma. It's the kind of coffee that makes you look forward to waking up. I would like to try the medium roast for comparison. It's important to note that this blend contains only 10% Hawaiian coffee, with the remaining 90% comprising other high-quality Arabica beans. While some purists might prefer a higher percentage of Hawaiian beans, I still really enjoy the coffee, especially at this price. Overall, if you're looking for a flavorful coffee that offers a hint of Hawaiian charm, this is a fantastic choice. I am brewing this with a DeLonghi True Brew coffee maker, FYI.

The Perfect Blending of Hawaiian Bean
I knew I was in for a special treat the moment I unsealed the bag. A fresh incredible aroma filled my space and tempted me to not wait until the next morning to enjoy but to grind some beans and enjoy immediately! So I did. I can’t say enough positive luscious words about how phenomenal my first cup was, my own heaven on Earth experience. I’ve already shared some beans with a couple of my family members, now they’re hooked. So, I once lived in Hawaii and am fully aware of the enormity 100% Kona coffee demands hence the exorbitant price. You get what you pay for and here’s where Kauai Coffee is worth your attention. Their blend contains not 5, not 10, but 25% Hawaiian bean coffee and my friends it makes all the difference regarding its outstanding taste and much lower cost when compared to 100% Kona. So buy it and try it, I promise you will enjoy it. A cup of this aloha will do your soul some good. Mahalo!

Decent coffee - No more, no less
I recently switched to a French Press and I needed a coffee that I could experiment with to achieve a great cup of coffee before I went with the expensive ($50+/lb.) 100% Kona coffees I really love. I have had Kauai coffee before and I trusted it. All I can say is that this is pretty disappointing. Let's get one thing out of the way; this is not Kona and has no Kona coffee in it. Second, according to the package, only 10% is even "Hawaiian" coffee, supposedly from a Kauai coffee estate. The other 90% is (at least) Arabica, and that is all we know. Arabica accounts for over 60% of all coffee consumed in the world and it is grown all over the world. So you are getting a blend of 10% Hawaiian coffee and 90% who-knows-what. So, like I say, it is decent, not good but not that bad. I do have to take issue with this even being in a Kauai coffee bag but Kona coffees do the same thing. Only 10% of a bag labeled Kona Coffee has to actually be Kona coffee if somewhere on the package it says BLEND. The lesson for today is: Read the label and if you want a certain taste coffee make sure it is 100% that coffee.

MMM HAWAIIAN COFFEE
Really good value and delicious. Full body and the aroma fills the office - not like those one-cup at a time brews, these beans go to grinder and into a drip maker, and wow. So great. I look forward to coming to work just to get to the coffee. And by the way, I use the basic Mr. Coffee machine, no timers, no auto anything, and it makes great coffee, quick and easy, no mess, no trouble.
