My absolute favorite lens in my kit! This glass competes with lenses 5 times more expensive. The build quality is superb and it is so much fun to manipulate. The tactile feel is romantic and beautifully designed. At such a fantastic price I would highly recommend for all levels of skill. The bokeh is luscious and paired with my Fujifilm Xt1, produces outstanding picture quality.

The lens is well-made, has a good weight to it, excellent image quality, and great bokeh. It's suitable for both portraits and landscapes, and manual focus is quite easy to use.

Absolutely awesome lens for the price. I compared this to several other lenses on a Canon mirrorless in an effort to make a “digital film” version of my Canon F-1 and the handling / build quality felt far higher than its price would suggest. If it had a clicked aperture ring, it would be an easy 5 star rating but it’ll get the job done. Heavy damping on both the aperture and focus ring which felt nice. One thing I noticed is that this behaves much more like a 50mm lens when comparing its framing of a given scene with other 50mm lenses on a tripod (which was a bonus since I was trying to find a 50mm lens anyway!) Compared to those other lenses, it seemed to give a slightly bluer rendering to images but nothing you couldn’t adjust with white balance shift if needed. Didn’t see any poor behavior in the images, and it was super easy to achieve focus (even wide open) with the help of magnification / peaking. Highly recommend for a native mount mirrorless manual focus!

Lens mounted on a Sony a7ii and shoots pictures like a fine vintage lens. Fully manual with no auto focus and no electrical contact points with camera body so no f/stop or shutter speed readout on the screen or viewfinder. If you are not familiar with a manual shooting this may not be the lens for you. OTOH if you want to learn manual lens shooting, $90 is not a budget breaker to start with. The pics are very nice with an old school vintage look. The bokeh is excellent wide open and the sweet spot is probably about f/5.6 to 8.0. The build quality is far better than some of the far more expensive name brand lens I have.

Update: Today is the 3rd time I used this lens, once on the day received it, once for a 15 minute video and this afternoon. When I tried to take photos, it wouldn't focus. The the whole front of the lens came apart. I discovered the 3 screws that hold it together were loose and 2 were stripped. So, I put it back together after cleaning the lens off because it fell on the floor when it suddenly came apart in the middle of a product photo shoot. is a great manual lens. Sharp focus, large aperture and nice character.

The lens itself is actually good but upon attaching it to my camera I noticed the lens making a shaking noise which is because none of the screws in the back of the lens were tightened at all ! I am very upset with the fact that this item may not have been inspected properly before being packaged and shipped to me. I would love to give this product a higher rating however the seller or manufacturer need to do something to rectify this situation.

The Brightin Star 50mm F1.4 III is exactly the kind of lens that reminds me why shooting with a manual-focus prime can be so much fun. On a compatible Panasonic LUMIX or Olympus Micro Four Thirds camera, this lens gives you a very useful telephoto-style field of view that's fantastic for portraits, detail shots, products, video, and creative photography. The star of the show is definitely that F1.4 maximum aperture. Shooting wide open gives images a wonderful shallow-depth-of-field look, allowing you to separate your subject from the background and create that soft, cinematic feel. It's especially fun for portraits, close details, nighttime scenes, and situations where you want the background to become part of the artistic look rather than a distraction. I actually enjoy the manual-focus experience with this lens. It forces you to slow down and think about the shot instead of simply letting autofocus make every decision. Pair it with focus peaking or magnification on a modern mirrorless camera and achieving precise focus becomes much easier. For video work, manual focus can be an advantage as well. You have direct control over exactly where focus lands and can intentionally transition between subjects instead of having autofocus suddenly decide to hunt for something else in the frame. The 50mm focal length on Micro Four Thirds also makes this particularly interesting for portraits and tighter compositions. It allows you to stand back from your subject while still getting excellent separation and a flattering perspective. What I like most, though, is the character. Not every lens needs to be a clinically perfect computer attached to the front of a camera. Sometimes I want a lens that encourages me to experiment with lighting, focus, depth of field, and composition—and that's where the Brightin Star really shines.

I specifically bought this to photograph my own kitten. The lens is very lightweight, and the lens cap locks in securely. Excellent value for money! Customer service was very prompt and efficient in answering my questions. Great product! I'll probably check out this store again for other lenses next time. (Here's a picture of my cat, haha!)

The camera doesn't even know it exists—but the images are tack-sharp, the bokeh is creamy, and I just captured a perfectly focused bee on a flower—not by spraying bursts, but by pre-focusing and waiting for the moment. This lens made me a better photographer in one afternoon." My success rate on the first shoot was higher than with my AF lenses. I shot one frame per subject—no bursts, no spray-and-pray—and came home with a higher keeper rate. I felt "in the zone." I felt like the boss. I felt like a photographer, not a camera operator. The Brightin Star 55mm F1.8 doesn't just take pictures—it teaches you. It teaches you to see, to wait, and to execute. It slows you down in the best possible way. And when you nail the shot, the satisfaction is incomparable. Final Thoughts and a Plea to Brightin Star This lens is an absolute steal at $100–$150. It performs like a vintage classic with modern coatings. It's sharp, characterful, beautifully built, and joy to use. My only plea to the manufacturer: Please add textured finger grips to the focus and aperture rings. A little knurling, a rubberized band, or even a ridged metal finish would make this lens accessible to everyone—including photographers with larger hands, arthritis, or dexterity challenges. My silicone band hack works, but you could make it perfect. Would I Recommend It? Absolutely. In fact, three friends tried my lens at the botanical garden and ordered one before we left. If you're tired of fighting with autofocus, if you want to reconnect with the craft of photography, or if you simply want gorgeous images on a budget—buy this lens. You won't regret it. P.S. — A Note to Fellow Photographers If you're on the fence about manual focus, just try it. Use focus peaking. Pre-focus on your subject. Wait for the moment. You'll be surprised at how quickly it becomes second nature—and how much more connected you feel to your images. And if you're using a Raynox macro converter, you're in for a treat. A great lens at a great price. I love this lens. It is very well made and just feels like quality. But even more important the optical quality is also great for the price. I also love the classic looking rendition of images from this lens. I can't say enough good things about it. If you are not put off by a manual focus lens (and with focus peeking it is not really an issue) this is a great all around prime lens. This lens definitely punches above it's weight and you get a great lens at an affordable price.

Cannot believe the amazing quality you get with this lens. Super sharp even wide open at 1.8f. Its construction is all metal and extremely durable. This does make it heavier, but I like this in comparison to a lens that I have to baby. I can use this daily and not worry. The value is awesome and I look forward to purchasing more Brightin Star lenses!
