does part number 30120015 mean anything

Model 30120015 is 1:1 identical to this model.

Can you tell us the difference between this drain and your other popular drain asin b0775yb3t3?

This one has a different trap to the other one b0775yb3t3. This one has a rubber seal on a plastic frame that you pull out to clear debris from. The other one looks like it has some kind of plastic trap. I've been using the one with the rubber trap for 18 months and although you have to clean it regularly it's been excellent. Hope this helps 😊.

Does this have to be fitted with the dome top cap or can i just use the base? My shower tray has a round hole but a square cover that sits on top.

Hi. It does really need the round chrome top otherwise you have 3 bits is of the sealing ring sticking up. I’m just fitting one now and have added a video.
