Innova 5610 OBD2 Bidirectional Scan Tool - Understand Your Vehicle, Pinpoint What's Wrong, and Complete Your Repairs with Less Headache, Updates Included, US-Based Technical Support

After a month of almost daily usage in a 2003 Toyota and 2013 Mazda, I'd buy it again. I'll describe what the marketing doesn't say or other reviews has discussed. Prior to this, I used Torque Pro on ELM327 since 2010. If you tinker with your car in any way, a generic OBD2 scanner is not enough today, except for basic troubles; modern cars are full of control computers, i.e., modules, finding them requires a scanner of more capacity, such as those thousand+ dollar annual license semi-pro scanners. Innova has found a niche between pro and basic consumer, in the top line model, the 5610 My primary need is to troubleshoot the drive train, to avoid being dead on the road in a long trip, repairing DIY items or confirming a pro mechanics diagnosis Pros It works as described and very high build quality made in Taiwan Connection is fast and immediate vs a blue tooth dongle like the blue driver or ELM327 The cable is very long, and detachable and thus, replaceable if worn, has a light to make it easy to attach in the dark foot well were the OBD jack is, and easy not only to position in the cabin, drive the car with the OBD attached, but position it on the engine bay during troubleshooting Optional AA battery usage so 5610 will retain data you can upload to its app later It works stand alone to give you immediate and quick answers but can connect to an Android device via bluetooth to give you their diagnosis, save session results and provide graphing. I didn't test Wifi, blue tooth is flawless and automatic, but requires Internet access to complete or it will abort. Tech support online is superb and answered in a day the LCD has bright large colored screen, makes it easy to see, but keys are not backlit It works by loading various car maker modules that enhance functions beyond basic OBD2 capability, and will change depending on your car's make, model and year. This makes is very hard to compare vs competitors since it 'morphs' to adapt to whatever car you have. It also may not cover all functions, particularly what you need, since it depends on what they were able to license from the maker, so best tested for what you need and returned if not, as you can't buy this purely based on the marketing literature or the website compatibility list, it may have more or less. For e.g. on my Toyota, generic OBD2 covers 18 PIDs, using the Toyota module, has 74 PIDs, Mazda module has over 200 PIDs, and this is just for the engine alone; there are more PIDs for other modules like ABS and TPMS. Like a cheaper scanner, it will reset MIL as well as service reminders, but when the module supports the advance functions, such as TPMS, will reset its DTCs if not self resetting once repaired. It does live data on generic and OEM, but it will only save generic live data It is bidirectional, in that I can turn on/off modules, if supported. This helps diagnosis when no DTC are available. For example, to test the fuel pump, I can turn it on/off, I can hear the motor actuating as well as the relay. This allows me to check pump function, its relay or check fuel pressure without having to go back to try and start the car. I can actuate the AC compressor clutch bypassing the dashboard switch, in case of a switch failure, likewise for the power windows. If you do not turn OFF a switch, it will default back to OFF after a timeout, if you disconnect the scanner, or turn the engine off; this is not described in the manual but is expected otherwise it would be a catastrophe if you forget to turn off the fuel pump with the car not running. Lifelong license, but per tech support, updates are annually, at most. If you have a newer car than 2022, it may not support it completely. Its perfect for cars past warranty, and older the better, which may likely needs more than preventive maintenance and that an owner may attempt to DIY. Cons Expensive, its priced far above the 'generic' OBD2 scanners but less than semi-pro and pro scanners When cars change, the response of the 5610 changes, so its unnerving at first as you don't know if the unit broke. For example, ignition on only, my old Toyota will time out after 15 minutes and disconnect the 5610. On my Mazda, it stays on forever. On both, switching from an OEM to generic module after some time, may require the cable to be pulled and reinserted. These are not described in the users guide. I do not know if these are quirks of a normal 5610, a bug or normal OBD behavior. No backlit keys, hard to see working in a dim cabin to select functions, so I use a headlamp. Cannot upload OEM live data to the app, nor cannot export generic data to another app ... I've given these as a wish list to tech support

I spent untold hours researching OBD2 scanners. The number of scanners out there is overwhelming, and it was a daunting task to come up with what I really needed in a scanner. All scanners read trouble codes (DTC's). Spending more money gets you more features. My list of must haves were: * Bi-directional controls * Free software updates * Product hardware. designed and supported in the US * Software designed and supported in the US * Communicates with most of the popular vehicles * Has a decent amount of service functions * Scans all systems * FCA/Autoauth The Innova 5610 V3 has all of these. The icing on the cake was me finding it on a flash sale on Amazon. The hardware seems nice and durable. Screen is well lit and ease to see. The unit fires up in seconds and is ready to go. It came with a nice storage pouch, OBD2 cable, printed user's manual, and a data cable for downloading updates (through a PC or Mac). All said and done, this scanner met all my criteria, and offered a significant amount of additional features for the money, making it the clear winner. They keep making them better and better. This must be my 3rd one since 2000 could be 4? I forget. Just keep upgrading them. I do like that now they have update ability even though they do not do it often and kind of behind the newest cars coming out unlike other code readers. But this one is reliable and easy to use. IF you need a great code reader with the other features this one has go for it. Pricey yes as they have cheapo ones out there but high quality unit

I only have two complaints... It comes with COMMAND WITH BIDIRECTIONAL CONTROLS. But... did not work on my Ram 3500 truck. Not the tools fault because it specifically says on the Amazon page, " Compatible with select vehicle makes and models; not universal." My beef is... $350 for a plastic box with a small chip board and a screen in it that only costs them under $75 to make, just include the FCA Gateway! The other is the description says, "Zero Fees. Zero Surprises. That feeling when a random $100 or $299 charge pops up on your bank statement...no one likes that. Innova products do not have subscription fees. Updates are 100% free, and your scanner is ready to go the moment you open the box. One price. Total peace of mind." This statement leads to believe that the RepairSolution2 is free. The statement is, "the this car scanner pairs with the RepairSolutions2 app, trusted by 4M users, for wireless OBD scanner functionality. With free updates and no subscription fees" BUT, the app has TechDoc in it which one would think is a part of repair solutions, right? NOPE you have to subscribe for 14.99 a month. So basically, the free RepairSolutions2 is not full of solutions unless you pay for it. I am not happy with my purchase. I gave it 3 stars because it does work fast and provides good info but not 5 stars forthe reasons above.

At this point in time, this is a fantastic tool. I say this because of the free extended analysis and recommendation provided by the app on your phone. The tool collects the data and generates a report on your phone that is extremely helpful in diagnosing and repairing car problems. The tool itself is a very well made product with an easy to see display. Feels solid. It connects quickly and provides the scanner data that we expect to see when connected to the car. I am not a mechanic, but I am not afraid to dig into mildly complicated repairs and maintenance. I bought this tool when I had a check engine light come on during some rough engine idling. I suspected ignition coils. The tool scanned and reported a cylinder misfire, the data then transferred to my phone via Bluetooth. The app the generated a report which recommended replacing ignition coils and spark plug. This was spot on. After replacing the coils and spark plugs, the engine ran fine. I cleared the codes and the car has been running perfectly. I saved a thousand dollars on this repair. No joke. While tools like these are useful, the data they generate require experience to understand. This is where the app really shines. It cuts to the recommendation without having to understand all the nuances. Subsequently, I have taken some time to learn about scan tool modes and data from various YouTube videos and this has really enhanced the experience using this tool. Trust, but verify, you know. I am very satisfied with this scan tool and the free repair application. As long as the app remains free, this is a very useful tool. You can learn a lot and it works better than any other scan tool I have owned. Highly recommended.

This tool is Must have OBD2 SCANNER..... I had lean codes P0171/P0174...... On my 2006 GMC Yukon XL 1500 SLT 5.3L V8 Flex Fuel. The 5610 scan tool :diagnostics (on the phone App.) Suggested two repairs ; the Intake manifold Gasket . An if needed..... the Flex Fuel Pump Assembly. I had already replaced both parts. But broke 2wo of the Intake manifold Gasket bolts. So I had a air leak..... This 5610 OBD2 Bidirectional Scan Tool caught the Intake manifold Gasket leak......

So far this works great we're using it on a Toyota and I'm pretty happy with it. It's pretty basic, easy to understand easy to use and set up. Connects very simply and is nice and small fits in the hand so you're not trying to manipulate a heavy block feeling.

I have a 6 cars ranging from Ford to Porsche it does almost everything I brought it for. I can use almost all of the features for all my cars except for the Porsche. The Toyota, Ford, Volvo, and Mercedes Benz, I can utilize most of the features but not all. 70 percent is where this reader serves me for my vehicles.

It is supposed to be an excellent scan tool but haven’t been able to trick the App into allowing me to download it.

Useless, product didnt even work in my country why sell a product internationally, when it will not work outside of america. Waste of money
