Great for teachers looking for text that they can modify for a middle/high school class or college (I'm one of them).The information found in this book is accessible. Each major event in history is prefaced with a brief summary of the occurrence then followed up with primary sources, such as diary entries, letters to statesmen, as a way to support learning about the historical event. It's a good book to help one understand and access history - lot's of historical tidbits are included and it offers such a wealth of information that it made me question many of my long held beliefs about history and the people that made them. Great to stimulate class discussion.

An amazingly well rounded account of early American history. I regret that this wasn't my history book when I was in school. Amazing read. This is a text that should be introduced into the school system.
