Shower perch? Be sure to check your shower surface before you decide on a suction perch.
I bought this for a shower perch for my B&G macaw. It’s perfect in every way, but I wanted to share our experience so that people can decide if their shower situation will work before they buy this item. This perch has super duper suction cups, but I ended up unable to use it on my tile. I discovered that if the tile has any sort of texture or variations on the surface then the cups don’t stick. I was really surprised that they weren’t sticking to my tile, since they don’t appear to have any sort of texture, but apparently they have enough that they impede the suction. I was bummed that I couldn’t place the perch where I wanted it, but it works perfectly on my glass shower surround. So, I placed the perch on the glass and it’s been over a month later and it’s not come off. It’s sturdy enough for my big bird to shake off the water to his heart’s content, and in the end I think it’s a great product. If you are looking to use this in a shower, then your surface should be a glass smooth one. Either a smooth tub surround or glass or tiles that are as smooth as glass. I hope that bit of advice can help a customer avoid the frustration that I had at first before I figured out what was happening. I can see how this would be a fantastic window perch based upon our shower experience.

Finally! A superior bird bath!
The media could not be loaded. Just remember to not use scrubbing bubbles or harsh cleaners in the same house as your parrot, using them and having your bird in the same bathroom can kill your bird or cause gradual changes in their lungs/airsacs that will eventually lead to a slow death.I bought this perch for my blue headed pionus, who is about 240 grams, and my cockatiels that are about 100 grams. This perch works great in the shower as long as the suctions cups and the smooth shower wall is wetted each time I use it. I always give it a good test pull down to check if it is stuck good and I always push it really hard so it suctions completely. I recommend removing the stickers on it before using it as I did not think it through and Margaux tried to eat them. She flaps hard and I knocked it once while in the shower with her and I have not had it fall yet. It does move a lot if you knock it from the bottom but this is not a problem as long as you don’t have soap in your eyes and blindly slap out in agony. The perch has good grip on it and she only slips off of the part that is smooth and PVC near the suckers. The width is a little big for her and large for my cockatiels but I prefer having the bigger perch as it gives them more ability to move in and out of the water as they please so the experience can always be a positive one. I slowly introduced my girls and one cockatiel was afraid at first but over several days of being in the same room as it and being able to explore and touch the perch on her own terms she is no longer afraid.

My Parakeet really enjoys this.
I bought this for my spoiled little parakeet. He loves to visit my windowsills. I do feel if the company made this in a size x-small, that would have been even more suitable, but he really enjoys this, so I bought 2 more! This is probably best suited for cockatiels and conures....but your parakeet will still love it. It is worth the higher price....as it is made well and has a very comfortable textured grip. It is more of a molded hard rubber verses a hard grit. It stays put. I did use an alcohol wipe on the window surface and also wet the suction cups to get a strong seal. I really like that it is a semi-circle. He seems to happily pace back and forth on it. The color in the listing shows pink....but it is actually more of a purple/pink. I wish they gave "choices" of colors as I use mine in a family room and not as a shower perch.

My Eclectus parrot loves this sturdy perch. I like the way it swings out ...
My Eclectus parrot loves this sturdy perch. I like the way it swings out of the way when I'm alone in the shower. The swing function was also very useful as a way of introducing her to showering as I could it out so, at first, only her tail was getting wet and then graduall over a week or two, began to swing the arm further and further under the shower (I have a large 12"x12" rainshower that comes vertically down) until she was so at ease that she now almost instantly falls asleep when she's in the shower. She also not only tolerates but *loves* it when I take the handshower (which has very strong jets of water coming out of it compared to the ceiling rainshower head) and direct it at different parts of her body. She now makes excruciatingly loud squawks if she thinks I'm going to have a shower without her! This was after being terrified of even the sound of the shower water when she first came into the bathroom. As a result of now almost daily showers with me, her feathers look incredibly rich and plush and she no longer smells. A great buy, this perch!

WET the Suction Cups!
When I received this, I immediately hung it in the shower, with careful placement on tiles, but before the day was over I heard a big crash from the bathroom and it had fallen to the floor of our tub. I thought it was a dud!The next day, my wife hung it again on the shower walls, this time WETTING the suction cups (which I had not done), and it stayed in place for nearly a month now.So in the end, it WORKS! It is really nice and heavy, but I was afraid maybe a bit too heavy for the TWO suction cups. But if you remember to WET the suction cups first, it appears to stay in place just fine. At least it has so far...
