Janice VanCleave's Scientists Through the Ages

Rather disappointing
The scientists bios definitely read like a text book, informative, but not at all engaging. The experiments are decent.I was looking for a book to use with our Charlotte Mason style homeschool co-op, and I was disappointed with this choice. What I ended up liking was choosing good stand alone short biographies for studying the scientists, then adding experiments from the excellent resource, The Way Science Works.

Good book for kids
This book was indeed about a variety of scientists through the ages.

Scientists Through the Ages
The book was 100% perfect in condition! I bought it to be used in my high school science classes and was very happy with it. I recommend it highly!

Excellent book for kids learning science
Excellent book for kids learning science! It comes with experiments to try at the end of every section, and the stories are very interesting.

Good book, but wish for specialty grouping
I am going to use this once a week with my kids for a family science lesson in addition to their individual science curriculums. One thing that surprised me was that the scientists weren't grouped by specialty. The specialties are explained and then there is a list of scientists. The lessons are very appropriate for upper elementary and middle school. I do like that there is a good mixture of men and women scientists, several of whom I didn't know.I like that Janice Van Cleave uses inexpensive materials and makes experiments easy to conduct.
