The top is a polyester material that has a velvet feel to it. The bottom is a thin rubber backing for stability.

can I use these as a small mouse pad?...I have limited space on my desk

It's possible, but you may limit your scrolling space with a circular one. May I suggest getting a square rubber mousepad and cutting it in quarters or whatever will give you the most area for your dollar? Amazon has them or you can get a pair at someplace like Staples.

How can a round coaster have length and width? what size are these? size: 6" x 4" (15cm x 10cm)

Apologies. The description has been updated.

Does the 5 include the fringe?

I got the 4 and they all had fringe.
