Does this unit power down a NAS drive (any other than Netgear) automatically without any computer having to be on?

It is detected and powers down my synology DS1812+ fine it also has option on my nas to shutdown ups once the nas is turned off. ive set it up to power down after 10 mins of having no power as says it will hold nas up for 30 mins. i allowed 10 mins because if power comes back up in that 10 mins the nas doesnt need to shut down. my nas is the only thing connected to this UPS atm. main power cable from ups into mains and then the nas is connected to the ups by mains cable plugged into one of the 4 battery backup & surge protected sockets on ups and data/usb cable from ups into any usb port on back of nas.

Is there much hum from this UPS? I need to install it for a very light sleeper with very acute hearing.

I am thinking about stopping using my unit because the noise it emits is very annoying. It's not loud but is persistent and gets on your nerves.

Can i connect this to a pc to provide the battery info (and set graceful shutdown)? if so, do i need to use the rj45 or usb port on the ups?

It doesn't come with a lead anymore, you have to request one from APC, I have jst requested one (Dec 2020) and their earliest estimate to get stock is April 2021. Absolute Joke !!!!

Does the software run on a Mac computer?

You don't need software for a MAC. Its automatically recognised as a UPS in the 'System Preferences' and you can set the parameters you need with the native MAC preferences
