Winner!
I've tried all sorts of rubbers on my journey to a USATT rating of 1950, from Tibhar Evolution series to Donic Bluefire to Butterfly Tenergy. The Mark V, despite being the cheapest of them all, is a good all-round rubber. It's the slowest I've played with but on the other hand, it gives me excellent control and I've been able to place my blocks very effectively. You can hit loops with this rubber but they won't be as spinny as one of the tensor rubbers (Evolution, Tenergy, etc.). I actually found the best combination for me is a very fast blade with a slower rubber like Butterfly Viscaria + Mark V, or the opposite: a slower all-wood blade with a faster rubber like Stiga Ebenholz + Tibhar Evolution. That said, you don't have to replace your blade every 2-3 months but you do replace your rubbers. Given that the Mark V is a good $20 per rubber cheaper than Evolution/etc., it's a winner in my book. I'm going to try Rakza 7 next- similarly low price point but let's see how that fares against Mark V/Evolution/Tenergy.

Best of bread at this price point
Best of breed at this price point. Me not being a table tennis professional I like the spin, weight and control. It's hard for my teenage son to beat his old man now!

Unbeatable in more ways than one!
Yasaka Mark V has been around for a long time which means it is a preferred type of TT rubber. Works well for the offensive and defensive player for pen hold and shake hand. This rubber lasts a long time (I know because my dad had this rubber for over 15 years and it was still not dead). for 40 dollars I would say you cant go wrong.

Really awesome rubber
I got a set of Yasaka Mark Vs for my first "real" blade - a Butterfly Timo Boll OFF. I went with 1.5mm and 2.0mm, as I play my forehand more offensively. Although I don't have a ton of experience with top-level rubber, I do have some. The Mark Vs have a great balance of control and spin. My one complaint is that they're a little TOO sticky for a novice player. If this is your first rubber, you'll have some problems dealing with spin, and it will take some time to adjust. I would suggest starting with a rubber that's rated lower for "spin".

Good control
A bit slower but gives me good control. I use it on my backhand and has worked well for my playing style. Good value at this price point.

Not worth the price paid. Too slow and lack of spin.
Not enough spin or power in todayโs plastic ball era. Maybe 20 years ago itโs a good rubber. Very underwhelming considering the price.
