Great alternative to name brand toner
Great alternative to Name brand toner at a much better price pointDowngraded to 4 only because of the ‘work’ you need to do to put the chip in

Process looks simple, video looks easy, but HP has strengthened the chip glue. Be prepared.
As someone else has mentioned recently, the chip replacement looks quick and easy and the tools are helpful. BUT, HP has strengthened the installation of the chip to the point where you are breaking off chunks of plastic that the tool did not separate from the chip. Once I found the chip after the plastic snapped and the chip flew into the next room, I had to "dissect" and slice the material around the chip until I was able get it thin enough to slide into the slot. In the video, the guy snips here and there a couple of times and he's done. Not so in real life. At any point the chip felt like it would snap. Once in place in the new cartridge, the chip was not positioned in the slot far enough in so that the printer read "memory error". I trimmed around the chip some more and slid it into the slot with a big shove and it now does not read the error. However, it still flashes the "Low Toner" symbol, so you have to change the settings in the printer to avoid printing lock up on some devices. The plus is that, once you get the chip out, you can slide it into the 2nd cartridge easier when the time comes. But as others have said, at any given time in the process, the chip could have snapped. Also the tweezers are not strong enough to be of any real use so I used my own long nose pliers. In the end, I don't recommend this for someone who isn't good with their hands and tools. Also, patience is a must.

CHIP DID NOT WORK ON 2ND CARTRIDGE
First of all, the "chip" is a real pain. What's the deal with the chip? First cartridge was fine (except for inserting chip that's smaller than a postage stamp) When first cartridge ran out of ink I needed to take the chip out of first cartridge and insert it into second cartridge. After about 50 copies I received an error message that toner was low and I was unable to print anything. Tried troubleshooting six different ways and nothing changed. SO, if you buy a two pack, figure you'll only get one that completely works.

Great value, Easy to install
The toner cartridges came with very easy to follow instructions and a tool to easily remove the chip from the old cartridge and install on the new cartridge. I finished the entire installation in about 3 minutes.Print quality is as good as the OEM cartridge. I'll definitely be purchasing from these guys again.

DIY and save some monty
These came with everything you need to change out the chip on your own. The directions are easy to follow. You are going to break the chip's holder off and then take off the plastic around the chip and put the chip in the new toner cartridge. Took me about 10 minutes.

definitely worth it
I like these toners because they save lots of money. The first time I ordered them, I was not sure if I would be able to swap out the chip correctly, but the HP toners are so expensive I thought it was worth a try. Clear instructions with diagram are included. The chip is very small so I needed to use my reading glasses to check the orientation when inserting the chip into the cartridge. I found that tweezers were necessary to hold the chip steady. I later found a pair of tweezers included the package (so next time, I will check the box first instead of searching the house for tweezers). After being installed the toner works perfectly and the print quality is the same as I experienced with the original HP toners. So happy to say these are what I use now. I am happy that we are able to have these options. A little more effort to transfer the chip, but worth it.

Chip was a little difficult to install
I just installed the first cartridge today. I did not realize there was a chip in it that needed to be moved from the old cartridge to the new one. I was a little hesitant because I am not a very "tech savy" person. They provided clear instructions on how to remove the old chip and that was easy. But when i went to put the new one in it was a little tough and i had to apply more pressure than I thought. It did go in and was snug (I guess they do that so it won't fall back out). Installing it in my Laser Jet Pro M404dn went smoothly. It had a touch of wiggle room that the original cartridge did not but it prints just fine. I am excited about the value of this product and will probably continue to purchase this brand.

Cool Toner value is second to none.
I purchased two packs of 58a cartridges for HP machine M404n in my law office. I didn’t realize that the cartridges came with no chips so both were not working after I installed them in my new printer. Then I sent messages to the seller to seek for help. The customer service manager Amber responded to me soon and told me that the cartridges required to remove chip from original HP cartridge and install the chip to new ones. And I just noticed that the seller included tweezers and chip transfer instructions in the box.I followed the instructions and finished installation in 1 min. It’s pretty simple. Then the cartridges worked in my printer. Incredible! They work as great as original HP cartridges and cost half. I appreciate for Cool Toner’s chip solution and prompt customer support.Amber also told me that they were working on developing compatible chips now. Hope I will be the first customer to use their complete 58a cartridges. I will definitely buy Cool Toner cartridges again.

Do not buy! The chip was impossible Remove - see broken old HP cartridge in image below Argh!!
I’m not by this project. It’s a joke to expect anyone to attempt to remove a chip which is stuck to the old cartridge and I known about this when I purchase a product then I most definitely would not have purchased in the first place.
